It's the beginning of 5th year, I've never been more happy to be returning to Hogwarts. After the event's of last year, I think it's safe to say Hogwarts is not as safe as we all thought it was.
Summer was pretty bleak for me, I spent the majority of my time locked up in my bedroom, staring out my window in a daze.
Ever since Cedric Diggory's death, I've lost my appetite for living. If what Harry said last year was true and You Know Who really is back, I have a churning feeling this is only the beginning.
It's been 5 hours on the train to Hogwarts, Ron's fast asleep pushed up against the compartment window whilst Harry and Hermione discuss something about Herbology. Meanwhile, I am obviously staring out the window at the passing night-time scenery. There's a new buzz of fear in the air since Harry's dementor attack. Everyone is seemingly quite on edge.
In the corner of my eye I spot a blonde haired figure moving past our compartment. Malfoy. Despite us being in the same house, I loath the pale skinned boy. Not to mention the constant harassment of my friends, he seems to have an undying passion for making my life hell. He meets my sneering gaze and - there it is - that same glint of hatred masked over his face. It never gets old.

Stepping off the train, the trio and I begin to move towards the Hogwarts grounds. I look up to see the school still situated where it's always been, towering over the students like a promenade of protection.
"Traitor." I hear Blaise Zabini mutter as he passes me.
I have little to no friends in my house, I wasn't supposed to be housed into Slytherin. My parents always thought I'd be the pureblood to be housed into Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, but no, I should've known it'd be Slytherin. Don't get me wrong, I love my house, it once held the Greatest wizards of our time. It's just a constant battle trying to convince other houses that 'not all Slytherin's go bad'.
"Ignore him." Harry says, following my gaze as Blaise trudges up ahead.
"Oh I will." I scoff.

Whilst Dumbledore rambles on about the upcoming year and welcomes the First years, a pink stout lady begins to walk to the pedistool. She introduces herself as the new DADA professor and her name is Professor Umbridge. Something about the smile glazed across her face is unsettling, the name sounding awfully familiar. Perhaps my father mentioned her from the Ministry..
She settles down in her seat whilst Dumbledore announces the feast and the table is filled to the brim with food.
"I reckon this is a way of the Ministry keeping an eye on things, most likely.", I hear Adrian Pucey say a few seats down from me.
"More like Potter." Malfoy spits from across him.
I continue to nibble at some chicken breast, lost in thought.
Theodore Nott slips into a seat next to me, "You're looking rather lonesome Bel." he teases, staring intently at me.
"I'm not alone, there happen to be many people on this table, if you would take the time to notice." I protest quietly, looking back at him.
"Where's Ophelia anyway?" He asks, sounding rather uninterested.
"She's talking to the first years at the end of the table", I point with my fork.
"Saint bloody Ophelia." He sounds mockingly.
"Don't be so crude Theo, she's only being helpful."
"Speaking of help, would you mind helping me with something in my dorm?" He smirks deviously.
Theodore Nott has had this ungodly obsession with me ever since he kissed me at the Yule ball. He's a good friend of mine, I've told him this, and I'd like to keep it that way.
"Theodore, you are absolutely infuriating." I clatter my fork on my plate and glare at him, quite unsure of what he was insinuating.
He gasps, "Belinda Delarosa, what a dirty little mind you have!" He chuckles sarcastically.
"I'm not the one with a dirty mind - you literally said - Theo, I can't with you" I feel my cheeks flushing.
"Relax Bel, I'm just messing with you." He grins.
"Sure.." I roll my eyes.
I'm quite abruptly aware of someone's eyes seering into my skin. Refocusing my gaze on something much lighter than Theo's auburn hair, silver eyes. Intensely challenging my gaze, a sneer plastered on his face.
"Theo mate, you've got quite the odd taste in women. Didn't think you were a sucker for blood traitors." He doesn't break his gaze staring right across the table, eyes not faltering from mine.
Theo clears his throat, "She's not a traitor Malfoy, just give it a rest." He turns back to me, an expression that looked a lot like him telling me to Back down.
"Oh yeah? I think hanging out with that filthy-", before I know it I'm standing up.
"Don't say it Malfoy." I say in a low tone.
"How adorable, she's standing up for her muggle friend." He laughs turning to the people around him joining in.
I fold my arms and break my gaze, looking anywhere but at him. "Careful Malfoy, wouldn't want to give the impression you actually give a shit what I do."
He stops laughing, an expressionless look on his face. "If you pitched yourself off the Astornomy tower I'm sure no one would notice."
Hatred filling me to my core, "I could say the same for you." I walk out.
