It's the day of Harry's trial. He's currently on his way there with Arthur Weasley, who will be present during the trial. Harry's been stressing about it all week so it's a relief it's almost over and done with.
Hermione, Ron and I are sat at the Gryffindor table during breakfast. Many students have decided to go to Hogsmeade today as it is a Saturday. We thought it would be better to stay on grounds until Harry returns."Harry will be alright. Dumbeldore will be there and there's no way he can get charged for defending himself." Hermione says, mindlessly forking a waffle.
"Obviously. I just hope nothing goes wrong." Ron adds, mounting another two Danish pastry's on his plate.
"You're going to make yourself sick eating this much in the morning." I widen my eyes at the never ending stomach of the boy infront of me.
"What? I'm just hungry." He says, stuffing a Danish pastry into his mouth. I look to Hermione who seems to be quite unimpressed.
I inhale and continue the conversation, "Anyway I'm pretty sure Harry will be going to Sirius' before he returns so he'll miss a couple classes - Hermione I was actually wondering if you could-"
"Yes I'll give him my notes." She interrupts, nodding her head down.
"Okay good." I sigh. I don't know why I feel bad that Harry's having to miss classes because of a stupid trial. Perhaps it's because I don't want him to get detention again...
I finish my cup of pumpkin juice, lost in a train-of-thought, I'm unconsciously watching the flames of a candle flicker above our heads. I blink away, placing my cup down on the table and I look up, behind Hermione's head Malfoy is watching me. Merlin knows how long but I take on this challenge and stare back, not blinking or stopping when Hermione reaches across the table to grab an orange. A mocking smirk plastered on his face, typical obviously. I raise my eyebrows in an attempt of making it clear whatever hes trying is not working - to which he replies by raising his own. I'm getting bored now so I blink and turn my attention back to the duo.
I hadn't really noticed but Ron and Hermione were both sharing confused expressions between eachother before looking back to me.
"What was that all about?" Hermione splutters, furrowing her eyebrows.
I lick my lips and blink, clearing my throat. "What was what all about?"
"That," Ron says looking behind Hermione's shoulder and back at me.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I lie, not really sure why this is now becoming a scene.
"Yes you do!" Hermione says, her tone hushed. "Is Malfoy bothering you?" She demands, looking around to make sure no one is listening.
"If he is, you know you can tell us." Ron says, searching my eyes. I stay silent for a couple beats, biting my bottom lip as the two anticipate my next response.
"He isn't bothering me." I breathe out, the two unwieldy easing the tension. "Just forget it, okay?"
Hermione opens her mouth to say something but snaps it shut, evidently deciding it wasn't worth it.
-
I decided I needed some air after the events of breakfast and I'm now walking down towards the Forbidden forest. Obviously it's forbidden but I'd much rather be out here than stuffed up in the castle.
As I step into the the forest, I'm encapsulated by the coolling silence. Light streams through the trees painting white scorches all over the forest floor. Quiet, icy breezes brush over me and I am comfortably alone.
