Chapter 14: The Beginning

???: "So, Blake is your friend?"

Ruby: "Yes Penny."

Penny: "And you're mad at her?"

Ruby: "Yes. Well, Weiss is."

Penny: "I imagine it's because of her experiences with the White Fang."

Ruby: "Spot on, Penny."

Penny smiled in delight, happy to understand her new friend's troubles.

Penny was... interesting, to say the least. She was an orange haired girl with an old style of clothing, consistently colored with either green or white. Her clothing matched her hair and skin to the point where it looked like they blended together seamlessly.

But what was more important was her attitude. She was both chipper and... off, at the same time. She was always joyful, but it always seemed forced. Like she didn't have a choice in how she acted.

Penny: "Does Weiss hate Blake now?"

Ruby: "No- Ye- ... I don't really know."

Penny: "But isn't she friends with Blake?"

Ruby: "Well, that's kind of up in the air right now..."

Ruby looked down, saddened by her own statement.

Weiss had bad experiences with the White Fang growing up. The Schnee Dust Company had been in war with the group as far as she could remember. Many people a part of the company were killed by their members, leaving a traumatic scar in her life.

But while her anger on that matter was justified, her anger towards faunus in general wasn't.

Her upbringing led her to believe that faunus were all like the White Fang. They were the only significant examples of faunus she was taught about, leaving her life to follow the notion that they were all bad.

And when she saw Sun run from the cops, she couldn't help but voice her complaints on the faunus people.

That's when Blake snapped. She revealed she was a faunus to her team while defending the White Fang. She left immediately after, fearing their reaction to the matter.

And now, here they were. 

Running around in search of their teammate.

Penny: "Wouldn't Weiss forgive Blake then?"

Ruby: "I don't know about that..."

Ruby... didn't know what to think. With Blake running away and Weiss already labeling her a criminal, Ruby was confused beyond belief. She didn't know what to believe anymore...

Blake lied to them... She hid away who she was this entire time... What else could she have been hiding? Could they still trust her?

And what Weiss said... She never expected Weiss to have such a horrible experience with the White Fang. She heard of those things happening, but only then did she realize how big it truly was. 

But even still... that didn't give Weiss the right to go after faunus. Even if they were the only experiences she had, she shouldn't have assumed all faunus were like that... It was a horrible way of thinking, no matter what kind of history they had...

None of that compared to her biggest worry though.

What happened to (Y/N)?

On the day Blake left, the day that she needed help, (Y/N) was nowhere to be found. He was gone without a trace and hadn't returned the entire weekend. It worried not only her, but Weiss and Yang as well.
