BOKETTO ARMETTE
-
I woke up to a loud and persistent ringing noise coming from my left nightstand and groaned. I waved my arm around, trying to silence the annoying sound. I finally wrapped my hands around a small, rectangular object, and threw it across the room. Suddenly, I heard a bang, followed by a string of cuss words. I immediately sat up, only to see my "lovely" sister with a giant bruise on her forehead.
"YOU FUCKING BITCH- THAT ALARM CLOCK WAS TWENTY MOTHERFUCKING DOLLARS-" Dainara shouted at me, rubbing her forehead. "Pfft, you big baby. It's just a bruise." I exclaimed, laughing as Dainara flipped me off and exited the room. I slowly got out of bed and stared at my reflection in the large mirror that was propped up on my dresser. I felt...odd. Like something was going to happen. Hmph. Whatever. Probably just another intrusive thought.

I poured myself a bowl of Raisin Bran (ew i hate that nasty shit) and quickly shoveled the cereal into my mouth before slinging my backpack around my shoulders and setting out for school. Once I had finally made it down the stairs, I put in my AirPods and began my twenty-minute trek to the Shinjuku district, where my school was located. I stopped for a moment, pulled out my phone and began searching for a song. I finally decided on 505 by Arctic Monkeys (great song btw go check it out 😩) and resumed walking, humming along to the beat.

I arrived at the front gates of the grade school I currently attended, and bowed to the guards as they smiled and unlocked the gate for me. I merged into the giant crowd that was gathered in the courtyard and sat down on a smooth bench, pulling out a random book I had checked out from the library a few days ago and flipping through the pages. "This book is boring.." I mumbled to myself as I slipped the book back into my bag (yes she has a bag now shh) and rose off the bench, heading into the school.
I silently walked down the hallway, searching for my class. I started attending this school about 3 years ago, but I still haven't gotten used to the building. "2-C. Looks familiar." I thought to myself as I entered the extremely clean classroom, and looked around. I noticed that the teacher was absent, and a bunch of kids were chatting away at their desks. I sat down at a random desk near the front of the room and tapped my finger on the desk, careful not to make any obnoxious noises. Suddenly, the teacher entered the classroom and all the students immediately stopped talking and faced the front of the classroom. I sighed and directed my attention up front. This was going to be a long day.

We had just ended our lunch break when the lunch monitor called everybody back into the school. I packed up my lunch and stuffed it into my bag, and ran back inside with the rest of the kids. I made it back to my classroom in about 2 minutes and immediately sat down, eager to start the lesson so I could get this school day over with. All the students then filed into the room and sat down in their respective seats, and the teacher smiled and was about to say something when I felt my desk tremble underneath me. From the looks of the other students, I assumed that they felt it as well. "Eh, it was probably nothing too big." I exclaimed as the others nodded in agreement. Then the room began to shake.
The neatly stacked books that sat on top of the shelves began falling down, and one hit a small boy in the head as he crumpled to the floor. The entire classroom was suddenly filled with screams and crying as the desks began violently shaking. I tried to stand up, but the floor was crumbling underneath me, and I stumbled over onto the floor. The teacher dragged me underneath the large table in the back of the room as the other students managed to crawl underneath some other tables scattered around the room. My mind was racing. What was happening? Is Dainara ok? Then I heard a ear-splitting shriek, followed by somebody screaming "EARTHQUAKE!!" I froze with fear. Oh my god. This was an earthquake.

I slowly opened my eyes and felt a throbbing pain in my lower abdomen. I winced as I looked down and saw a large piece of what looked like brick sitting on my abdomen. I shoved it off with all my willpower and looked around. There was a ton of dust clouding my vision, but I could make out a group of tall figures standing about 10 feet in front of me. They advanced closer as I whimpered, in both fear and pain. "This is the one, correct?" One said in a thick Russian accent. "Mhm. Let's take her. He'll be thrilled when he learns that we got an Armette." Then I felt a sharp pain in my neck before I crumbled to the ground, overwhelmed by a sea of pain and fatigue.
