There I was, lying in the bed next to Caiden, who had hugged me this entire night. My eyes were still closed, but I was awake. I needed this time to think, to get everything straightened out: My feelings toward Caiden, how we'll ever survive the government chasing us, and dealing with never seeing home again... Sure, home wasn't exactly 'home' to me, but it was a place to stay.
A rustling in the vines by the cave's entrance caused me to sit up in the bed, my eyes flitting around the small cavern and toward the door. "Calm down, it's just me." Said Brannon, putting a hand up as if to surrender. I relaxed a little, backing up to the small headboard of the bed and resting my back against it. "What were you doing outside? It's so early and the sun's just rising." I asked him, finishing it off with a large yawn and an arm stretch- I was seriously stiff. "Meditating. Keeps me centered." He replied, opening the cooler and pulling out a water bottle. I was parched, I hadn't drunken anything since noon yesterday. Before he could close the cooler, I willed a water bottle to come to me- because I am just so lazy. It landed in my hand, the cold water dripping off of its bumpy surface and onto the ground. "Nice power." He said, taking a sip of his water. "Thanks. What does your power do?" I asked him, cracking off the cap and demolishing half the contents in my own bottle. "Controlling earth. Manipulating trees, ferns, the ground, etc. If I really wanted to I could cause an earth quake or crack the earth in two, but that would drain my energy so much I'd either pass out for days or fall in to a coma." He answered, his voice nonchalant but his eyes saying something different. I watched him as he set his water down on the top of the cooler and walked over toward the vines. With a wave of his hands, they drifted apart and allowed the bright beams of sunlight to flood the dark cavern. "Get up everyone! We got a big day ahead of us."
Moans and groans sounded from Jordan, Lance and Caiden who refused to wake up. Caiden, especially. He turned to the wall, snuggling close in to the small surface of the rock and blocking the sunlight from his body. "I'll dump water on you." I threatened, putting the cap back on my bottle and shaking the water.
His eyes immediately shot open as he turned toward me, sitting up straight in the bed. His eyes narrowed at the water, before a smirk appeared across his face. "Try me." He retorted playfully.
"Don't do it, Jo!" Said Jordan, "He'll make that water fly right back in your face. " She finished, crawling out of bed and taking the water from my hands. "Oh. I forgot about that small detail." I answered back, crawling out from under the covers and standing up on the cold, hard cave floor. I turned toward Brannon, who was absentmindedly picking the label off of his water. "So where do we find other groups like us?" I asked him, beginning to straighten out my clothes and hair. "Where we found you. Hanging around after schools, in the woods, or sometimes if we get lucky, running away like us."
I nodded, promenading over toward the cavern's entrance and moving aside the ivy-vines, stepping out in to the warm morning breeze; At least it was summer and not freezing winter.
One by one, everyone stepped out in to the sunlight preparing for our travel. "This could take days. Maybe weeks. We should be okay though, if we stay near a town. We have our ways of getting necessities." Jordan said, motioning toward Caiden and Lance. They both grinned at the appreciation.
"Ready? Jo, Brannon and Caiden in a group, I'll take Lance. Meet up at our second hideout at dusk. Try to find as many people with powers as you can, if you're in trouble text us. Vice versa. Good luck!" And with that, we broke off from each other.
And the hunt began.

"Over there, maybe." Whispered Brannon, using the ferns to conceal our existence. We were hiding on another school's grounds, and if we were caught... all hell would break loose.
"Yeah, she looks like a loner..." Said Caiden. We all expectantly watched a girl about our age -I know, creepy right?- sit on a bench, all alone. "Well just because she's a loner doesn't mean she has powers?" I told them, watching for any indications of other kids with powers on the school grounds.
"Did you have many friends? No. Did Caiden have ANY friends? No. Did I have many friends, no." He told me, continuing to watch the stranger. "Good point." I replied, also returning my gaze toward her. Caiden slapped Brannon on the back of the head with his hand, "I had friends. Not many, but I had friends." He warned, shaking his head and moving to my side. "Call her over here, then." I offered, shifting uncomfortably from being squashed between the two of them. "And say what? Excuse me miss, but do you happen to posses any supernatural powers? Maybe you're being hunted by someone?" retorted Brannon, frustration clear in his tone. "Yes. You know what, I'll do it." I replied, whistling from the bush to get the girl's attention. Sadly, I didn't know there was another person standing right near our bush. A boy ducked down to our face level, his chestnut hair concealing his eyes. "Who are you?" He asked, an earphone dangling out of his left ear. "Err... Who are you?" I questioned him, raising one eyebrow. Just then, the girl with long, black hair stepped up to the bush. "Hello?" She asked everyone, "Who are you..."
"Would you two happen to posses any supernatural powers..?" I asked, before receiving two slaps on the arm from Caiden and Brannon. "What?! I said I would ask her." I whispered to them. "That depends... Why?" They both answered at the same exact time. Freaky. "Well..." And thus, began our insanely long explanation. Little did we know, someone else was listening in...
