He looked at her beautiful, lifeless body. She was sprawled on the floor in front of him. Her skin was pale and her long black hair was tangled. Blood cascaded from the hole in her stomach, tainting her whole dress red.

He looked down at his trembling hands. They were red too. Covered in her blood. Still warm between his fingers. The blade he used fell on the floor at his feet. He was frozen as his thoughts raced. He killed her.

She was such a happy girl. So full of life. So passionate. Her smile made the hearts of murderers melt. Animals surrounded her whenever she spoke. Everyone loved her and his love was the strongest. That was of course before the curse took over her soul.

She'd wake up at night screaming, her eyes turning black like the night sky. Every night she convulsed with pain and then everything would go quiet  until the monster awoke.

It lived in her, feasting on all her good emotions and waking whenever the moon showed up on the starry sky. It took over her mind and body. It turned her into a blood thirsty beast. She would break anything in her way.

She tried to kill him so many times yet his feelings for her were still strong. He took care of her. He made sure none of the town folk found out about the curse. They learned to live with the evil inside her until one night she escaped.

She began a rampage through the city. Tearing apart anything and anyone in her way. Blood spilled on the streets as she ran on all fours. The monster inside her was too hard to control. She set fire to the houses with children inside them.

All he could do was look at the destruction helplessly. People began to flee the town. None of them saw it was his sweet Celia who did this. None of them would believe that anyway. She was too good. But the monster wasn't and it controlled her.

He found her that morning in the forest crying. Her clothes ripped and hair messed up. She was filthy. She looked up, her eyes still black. He fell to his knees beside her and cried with her.

"It's too strong, Micah. I can't control it anymore," she said looking at him.

"It's ok. Everything will be fine love," he comforted her, stroking her hair, "nobody knows it was you."

"It doesn't matter Micah. It can't happen again," she said just as her body began to twist in grotesque ways. Her back cracked and her neck twisted. The monster was waking again and this time it was daylight.

"No, stay with me Celia. I need you," he sobbed.

"I can't let this hurt you Micah. You need to kill me," she said, her body still twisting painfully.

"I can't," he said letting go of her.

"Kill me!" she shouted in a deep, wild voice. His Celia was gone. All that was left was the monster. She leaped at him and he took out his blade and stabbed her.

"I love you," he whispered as she fell into his arms. Her heart stopped as she finally found peace. She was freed from the curse for ever. She'd never feel the pain but she would also never hug him again.

He got up and lied her on the grass. He remembered all their good moments. They would never be together again. He killed her. It didn't matter that she wasn't herself. He killed his dear love. He committed one of the worst sins.

Then he remembered what she said to him before. We are all sinners Micah. You and I, and even the most holy men. We all do wrong. It doesn't matter if we kill someone or if we curse at someone. We still sinned. What matters is the we make up for our sins. We fight evil with good. For every sin we commit we should always do two good deeds, her voice rang through his head.

With that speech in mind he buried her, there in the forest and returned to the burned down village. He'd help the people rebuild it. He'd make up for his sins. He'd show his dear Celia that good was truly as strong as she believed.

Death would be so much easier. It would all just go away. But he didn't want that. He wanted to remember her and do good in her name. He was a sinner after all. And all sinners should make up for their sins. His was her death. He remembered that as he walked down the broken streets.
