Joka

chapter 2

Sunny day in the fall, it was October and getting close to Halloween; but that was still off as a tall dark green haired man named Gator stood at the town square in gotham waiting for Joka. He wore boot cut blue jeans and a black dress shirt with a red vest over it. Hooding his wool coat in his hands; his eyes were yellow, there were spots all over his body that had strong scales. His face had a patch of green scales on his cheek and forehead to the right side. His nails were claws with scales on his hand. Gator was taking Joka shopping for some new clothing since there was a rumor that her father was trying to break out of Arkham. Last thing they needed was for her to be caught.

“Gator!!” Joka said, waving her hand as she walked over to him. Gator turned and waved back; pausing with a frown as he saw R.J. with her. “Sorry, was waiting for R.J.” Joka was still in her school uniform, R.J. wore his hoodie with blue jeans.

“Why is he here? I thought it was going to be just us two?” Gator pouted, Gator always had a thing for Joka. Some of their group of friends knew it except Joka. “Anyone else coming?”

“I need some blank cd’s and Ivy’s birthday is coming up. So I wanna get her a gift.” R.J. said, they all started walking heading to the stores nearby. “Kitty might join us later and Soule, they are at a shoot. Why were you planning something Gator?” R.J. winked at him.

Joka wasn’t listening as the two were talking; she walked into a clothing store as the two waited outside for her arguing about more people maybe showing up and how R.J. ruined Gator’s plan. Joka though, a little bit later came out with a pair of white camo pants in a bag and a pair of military white boots. They wondered who they are for since they were men size. Walking along, they stopped at a music store to pick up some music, Gator tried to show his country music taste to Joka but she was more interested in the movie section of the store.

“Joka. I thought you liked music.” Gator claimed; Joka nodded her head not saying anything as she grabbed a few movies from the Disney section. Joka loved the Disney princess movies, it was the one thing that her friends thought she wouldn’t like. “What is with you and the Disney princess movies? I swear the only one your missing is that frozen movie.”

R.J. walked over to them as he had his bag ready to go. Gator was starting to feel that this wasn’t a hang out but just a shopping list. He wanted to have some private time with Joka and to treat her to a date. The sky filled with clouds as they stopped at a cart for some burgers; it was the one thing that Gator liked in the food word of Gotham since leaving Louisiana. They sat down at a bench all together realizing the others weren’t coming. Joka sat in the middle, as Gator sat to her right and R.J. to her left.

“Joka. Did you get to see your mom? Or is the bat’s still sticking to that deal?” Gator asked as he bit into his burger, Joka lowered her head with a sad look on her face. “Your mom isn’t too bad, as long as she isn’t with your dad.”

“Do you guys ever wonder…if the justice league is just waiting for us to grow up to put us away?” R.J. asked, that made them all pause in thought. It was a thought that has crossed all their minds. “Dad is worried, that if we slip up even one time, that they will lock us up.”

“Lets not think like that. Remember we are proving them, that we are not like our parents in that way. I mean Croc has done a good job raising Gator. He is a good boy. Ice is a doctor in training. Venus uses her plants to help the sick and fix up dying farmlands without pesticides.” Joka explained; she hoped that if it came down to that, that they would remember.

Gator thought for a momet. “I think what he means is you. Like out of all the villains, I think your top on the list. After all you are the daughter of the two most ruthless villains. They’ve killed hundreds. I am sure there are people that would love to set you up to go to jail just for that.” Gator explained; they couldn’t argue that. Nor was there an answer for it.
