Year 850
I slowly opened my eyes and dragged myself to sit on bunk bed I used to share with Isabel.
"Isabel, I'm curious what you're doing right now, I'm jealous that you're resting with Farlan while me and Levi were fighting titans outside the walls during our expeditions, It's funny you know last time we were about to kill Commander Erwin yet look at us we both respect him as a Commander" I smiled as I talked to myself.
I sluggishly get up, went to my restroom, and wash myself with cold water, which instantly relieves my sleepiness.
After cleaning myself up, I put on my collar shirt first, followed by my fitted white pants and waist skirt, and finally my boots and harnesses around my body.
Sometimes I wonder we wouldn't have any idea what titans are if this gear hadn't been invented, we'd all be clueless about things outside the walls. I'm thankful that this equipment saved my a$$ a lot of time.
After double-checking that my uniform was complete, I put on my green cape with hood with survey corps logo on the back. I double-checked that nothing was left behind and exited to the cafeteria, where I saw my fellow soldiers eating breakfast.
"Squad Leader Nina!, Atlast, you're awake; do you realize how long we've been waiting for you? "Petra said as she pats the empty chair beside her.
"I apologize, Petra, I was up all night working on paperwork to submit to Commander Erwin," I said, scratching my brow. I sat down beside her and began eating the food she had saved for me earlier.
"After you've all finished eating, we'll have a meeting before we embark on our expedition." Mike says as he gets up from his seat and walks outside.
After a while, most of the soldiers have finished their meals and we are on our way to our meeting location at Survey Corps HQ. I quickly grabbed the paperworks I did last night and went with Levi's squad, who were waiting for me.
All of the squad leaders are all inside the room as Erwin explaining and showing to us all of the do's and don'ts of our expedition beyond the Wall Rose, as well as our proper formation:
The Long Distance Enemy Scouting Formation denotes that we soldiers are on horseback and are spread out in a nearly circular formation over a long distance.
Throughout the meeting, I kept my gaze fixed on Commander Erwin, who speaks with a commanding presence.
Despite being one of the tallest soldiers in Survey Corps he always appears calm, but he has a firm expression. His icey blue eyes, thick and bushy brows, and blond hair neatly parted on the left side were the most noticeable features of him. He appears to be spotless.
I didn't realize I was staring too long until I noticed his icy blue eyes locked on mine.
What? I've been staring at him for far too long? I closed my eyes and spun my head to forget what I had just done seconds before, then I looked around to see if anyone had noticed, and thankfully no one saw me staring at him.
I continue to listen to Erwin's Command, and every now and then I catch him looking at me for a split second. I tried everything I could to avoid making eye contact with him, but it was difficult at times.
After a two-hour meeting, most of the squad leaders were dismissed to go back to their squads and pass on the information we discussed. Except for Levi and me, everyone else left.
"Nina, I'll assign temporary members to your squad after it killed two people and severely injured three others, rendering them unable to participate in this expedition. There will be new recruits tonight, which means you will have your new permanent members in your squad " Commander Erwin said as he adjusted his emerald bolo tie.
