You made sure to arrive at work an hour earlier than you usually would, so you clocked in at around 8 am. Today was a rather special occasion for the office as the CEO of the company was visiting to have a meeting with your boss, the Chief Operating Officer. This was something big as the company, Bloodworks was the biggest, most successful blood research company in the world. Of course, you didn't do any of the research or save any lives of that sort, you simply assisted your boss. You could tell that he was slightly nervous all week, but you had no idea what on earth he was fretting so much about. Over the last six months, the company had been doing more than well. And you would know as you were the Personal Assistant of the Chief Operating Officer.
You were the only one in the elevator as you pressed the button for the top floor. You swayed gently to the soft elevator music that played subconsciously until the bell dinged and the doors opened to the floor that was usually full of people, but as you arrived an hour earlier than normal, it was empty. You knew, however, that your boss would be here. So you walked along the hall and opened the door to your small office which was directly across from your boss's. You put down your purse and got yourself organised for the day before you left to go to the coffee machine like usual and got your boss his usual cappuccino. Once you made the coffee you walked back to his office and knocked on the door, waiting for an answer.
"Come in, Kayla." You heard his voice from inside.
You walked in and closed the door behind you then walked forward to his desk where you placed his coffee.
"Good morning, sir. I hope you aren't feeling too anxious today." You smiled politely. You liked your boss, he treated you fairly and with respect. He looked as though he was in his late twenties, which at first did confuse you as you wondered how he got to his position so quickly, seeing as people as high up as him in big companies were usually in their late forties or fifties. He was usually quite relaxed and rarely ever got stressed, which is why you were confused as to why he got himself in such a state.
"Good morning, Kayla. Don't worry, I'm still feeling just as anxious as I was yesterday." He laughed as he sipped his coffee. "Thank you for this, by the way." He motioned to the coffee as he turned around and gathered some papers in his hands and sat them neatly on the table while you nodded your head as if to say 'No problem'.
"Okay, so the CEO should get here at around...10 o'clock," He started to revise his plans for when the CEO were to arrive. "I shall be waiting for him in the lobby to greet him and then come back up here. Oh, Kayla, do you think that you could watch for us just before we enter my office and just ask him if he would like any beverages? Just to be polite and get it out of the way." He smiled nervously.
"Yes, Mr Kim, no problem." You nodded, thinking his plan was well though out.
"Then the meeting will commence in my office and, as you are already perfectly aware, no interruptions unless the building's on fire or someone is dying." His voice sounded like he was joking, but you knew he was still being dead serious.
