Hi. My name is Isabel Emmaline Cristina Lockhart and this is my story.

Prologue

Where is she?”

A black-haired boy, who looked about the age of sixteen, glanced at his companion’s impatient face warily. “She’ll be here,” he promised to the girl.

She scoffed, “She’s late, Nick, and I’m a sucker for punctuality. You know that.” Nick stared at the entrance to the clearing just as a girl of his age burst through, the cloth on her arms and legs shredded. Her honey-brown eyes grew huge with fright as she registered the blood painted on her body. She sank onto her knees and then, slowly, onto her butt.

Nick,” she gasped and he appeared by her in a heartbeat, even though he had been situated on the other side of the clearing. “Allison, are you okay? Are you hurt? What happened, love?” Nick prodded gently. The other girl gasped and sputtered and stuttered out, “Love?! Nick, she’s a human!”

Nick’s amber eyes turned black and cold as he turned to face her. “She’s more than that; she’s special. And she’s mine. You know that rule well, don’t you, Selana?” Selana’s face became even paler than it had been which would be increasingly difficult for the human eye to catch.

For both Nick and Allison, it was easy to see. Allison’s light brown hair stuck up in places and Nick’s attention diverted as she coughed for a moment, allowing Selana the chance to attack him. Selana, clearly stressed, lunged for his throat in that moment.

Allison thrust her hands out and Selana flew into a tree, a loud CRACK resounding through the clearing. “Don’t,” Allison warned, her hands falling limply back to her side. The feral snarl that ripped through the air stopped Selana’s thoughts cold.

Nick, who had been crouched at Allison’s side, now stood crouched with one foot forward and the other back, his hands finding purchase in the soft dirt behind his front foot. “How dare you even try to harm Allison. How dare you!” he hissed, eyes as sharp as knifes. His position suggested that if Selana so much as twitched to put her foot forward, he would rip her apart. So, instead, Selana turned and darted away.

“Nick…..” Allison began. “No, Allison, I refuse to let anyone hurt you. If someone were to even try and succeed, I-I-I wouldn’t-“he cut off, pain and agony twisting his features. Allison scooted closer to him and stroked his face with care. Nick pressed a gentle kiss to her pink lips.

Allison kissed him back, her fingers twisting in his black hair. Nick continued to kiss her, his ferocity growing with every second. His hands roamed over her body, agitated by the thin material that separated his skin from hers. He pulled her into his lap and she wrapped her legs around his waist.

In an instant, Nick was running through the forest, his lips still attached to Allison’s. Allison moaned brazenly, desire running in her veins. Nick growled, his lips moving down to kiss her neck. He was careful not to think of the blood running there and more of the desire to kiss every inch of her body. “Allison…” he moaned, her moans igniting his desire.

He burst into his home, dashed up the stairs and into his bedroom. Allison’s body bounced on the bed for a second and then Nick was upon her again. Desire and love were the only emotions present in the room that night.

 “Allison...” Nick’s voice called.

“Yes, Nick?” she replied, shifting onto her side to look him in the eye. He cleared his throat and closed his eyes. “How much does it hurt?” he asked, almost as if he himself was in pain.

“How much does what hurt, Nick?” she asked, her confusion leaking into her tone. He growled in frustration. “Don’t play dumb, Allison. Just tell me.”

“I don’t-“she began, confusion swirling around her like a halo. He rolled out of the bed and Allison gasped as he bared himself to her.

He pulled her up and she cried out when she stretched. The guilt and pain on his face hurt to look at. “Nick, it’s not your- Holy shit! That’s an ugly bruise!” she yelled.

“Sorry, sorry,” he mumbled. Allison spun and wrapped her arms around his waist, looking deep into his eyes. “It. Isn’t. Your. Fault.” She stressed, glancing at the hand shaped bruise on her right butt cheek.  She then leaned up and pressed a kiss to his lips before heading into the bathroom.

Nick shook his head at Allison. “She’s amazing,” he murmured to himself.

1 month and plenty of Allison-and-Nick nights later…….

“Ughhh,” Allison groaned. “You okay, Ally?” her best friend, Jonathan Teal, asked worriedly. She shook her head and bolted for the bathroom. Jonathan heard the sounds of Allison throwing up before he ran in to hold her hair.  She smacked her head against the toilet seat when she was done. “I’m gonna call Nick, ok?” Jonathan told her quietly. Allison nodded and slumped against the floor, her head still fairly close to the toilet.

Nick was there in less than five minutes. “What’s going on? Where’s Ally?” he asked, his eyes darting about, looking for the girl he loved. “The bathroom,” Jonathan replied. Nick nodded and headed into the bathroom to find Allison on the floor, asleep.

“Dude, she is totally pregnant,” Jonathan confirmed. Nick’s eyes bulged. “WHAT?!” he yelled. Jonathan’s eyebrows drew together. Allison’s head rose from the floor and she croaked, “Nick? What…-?”

She cut off at his horrified but furious expression. “You’re pregnant?!” Nick asked.  Allison nodded. He stomped out of the house and disappeared before he saw or heard Allison begin to sob at his reaction. Jonathan cradled his best friend as she sobbed over the boy she loved.

“Hey, it’ll be all right….” He whispered affectionately. Just then, their other best friend, Isabel Lockhart, burst through the door with an excited look in her blue eyes and her black hair scattered over her head messily.

Her look faded away when she saw her best friends hugging and Jonathan comforting Allison. She swallowed uneasily. Ally is in love. Ally is in love, she chanted in head. Allison knew about her ‘crush’ on Jonathan but what she didn’t know was that Isabel had fallen in love with Jonathan.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Isabel inquired. Allison pushed herself up and gave them a watery smile. Before she could speak however, Isabel interrupted, “And don’t you dare lie to me, Allison Mortez!”

Allison smiled- a real one this time- and noticed the way Jonathan’s eyes ran over Isabel’s body and the way he smiled when she sounded serious. He looked affectionate. As if Isabel was a delicacy that he couldn’t wait to have. He wants her so badly, she realised. And Isabel was oblivious to way Jonathon looked at her. But besides lust, there was another emotion in Jonathan’s eyes that Allison recognised. It was the same emotion that Nick always looked at her with.

It was love.
