WARNING:
from this chapter onwards, there will be mentions of violence.
However, being far from Taehyung hadn't prevented that from happening.
(...)
It had been about a week ago that I had barely exchanged a few nods with Taehyung at school, as we had also stopped meeting in the cafeteria to talk. I asked him not to follow me back home anymore, and it was exactly on this same path that this had happened.
I had had to spend an extra hour at school, both to have participated in the student council meeting, which the teachers had insisted that I must go to - even though I hadn't been a part of the council at all - and because it had also been the day that I had been responsible for cleaning the classroom. And because of this, I had ended up leaving school much later than I had thought.
The path between my home and the school, which was in the center of the city, was quite simple; I crossed the whole main avenue and soon afterwards, I reached my neighborhood. I used to go through a wasteland as a shortcut, but it wasn't exactly as dangerous as you might think. Just a large open-fenced lot where people used to throw rubbish or junk. It was quite usual for almost anyone in the neighborhood to pass through occasionally when they went downtown.
However, on that specific day, the place had been particularly foggy, and by the time I had got there, I had been a little bothered by the lack of light as it was late afternoon, and the place hadn't seemed as calm as usual.
I had noticed some seniors from my school – some of them even having been from my class – however, I hadn't been that surprised by it since some of them had actually lived in the same neighborhood as me, so it hadn't been anything so unusual until I had realized that something about those two boys in particular – those same guys that I had seen fighting with Taehyung months ago – had seemed wrong, and when they had noticed me looking at them, they had given me some falsely friendly smiles.
I had a bad premonition that something would go wrong.
I had looked around, looking for a familiar face or searching for an escape route because, after so much that I had been through at school, I had no longer been as confident that the group of boys – strangely suspicious looking – could have been there simply by chance. It had looked like the riot had started because of me, to scare me.
I could hear my neighbors' dogs barking in the distance, reminding me of how close to home I had been, and my feet had tingled with the urge to desperately start running. My eyes had scanned the place, counting the number of boys around me, and in my head I had tried to calculate whether there had been the slightest chance that I could have been faster than them, but I had soon given up on that idea. I had lowered my head when I had seen one of them approaching me while I had been thinking of an excuse to get away from there unharmed.
"Look, what do we have here, guys," one of these boys had spoken, drawing the attention of the other five. "If it isn't the asshole Taehyung's chick." He had still been talking with a smile on his face as he had stepped out of some discarded pieces of metal where he had been sitting.
"We were waiting for you, baby girl," another boy whom I didn't recognize had continued to speak after hearing everyone start laughing, probably from when they had seen my troubled expression. The boy who had just spoken had come closer to me, grabbing my hand and raising it in an ironic way as if he were going to kiss me. "Pleasure to meet ya, ma cherie."
"Well." I had quickly pulled my arm away from him, obviously having been too much bothered by the contact, having already feared enough of how dangerous the situation had been. " Excuse me." Without having had enough of a capacity to elaborate better, I had tried to avoid the boy in front of me, however, I had noticed that there had been four more boys blocking the way and that the first one, who seemed to be the oldest among them, had taken me by the arm.
"Calm down, babe." He had had enough strength to turn me around until I would be facing him again. "Why are you in such a hurry? We haven't even started talking yet." He had continued to speak in a falsely friendly tone. "You are Taehyung's girlfriend, aren't you?" My hands had been sweating at his touch.
He had paused and had started looking at me as if he were evaluating me.
"He has very good taste." He had tried to move his hand closer to my face, but in desperation, I had slapped his hand away. In response, I had heard a chorus of boos from the other boys; which had clearly ended up annoying the guy in front of me, who had instantly stopped smiling and had started looking at me angrily . "You know, I was thinking of just using you as useless bait, since that stupid boyfriend of yours has been avoiding us for a long time, but ..." his tone had changed drastically, ".... as you want to be rude," he had paused. I had opened my eyes wide as I had watched him hurriedly take off his coat, which had ended up making him laugh. "It won't make any difference to play with you for a little." I had let out a startled sob when I had seen him take a brass knuckle out of his pocket.
A/N: Well, I must warn that if you have already felt uncomfortable in the end if this chapter, the next ones will be as violent as this one. But I thought it was feasible to still represent this in the story. It will not be as strong as it looks, but still, it's good to warn it. See ya ~~~
