A request for SweetAngiebee27 and Jusheto

"Happy birthday, gorgeous. I'd let you sleep in but there's a surprise waiting for you in the living room."

At Bobby's voice, Stefani turned over with a soft groan, her eyes slowly flickering open to focus on him.

"Fuck me," she rubbed a hand down over her forehead, "whose idea was it to have a champagne toast at midnight?"

Bobby chuckled, handing her a bottled water he'd had the forethought to bring with him. "Yours."

She shifted onto her good hip, taking it gratefully. "Yeah, well, it wasn't the best idea I've ever had. Even though it was fun."

He smiled. "So much fun. Although, with all the table dancing, I was worried you were gonna fall off the balcony."

She quirked an eyebrow, "I've had plenty of experience, Bob. I'm good." Pushing herself up, she threw her arms around him, squeezing him tightly. "Seriously, I had a great time. And you're the sweetest for planning this party for me tonight. I'm so happy you're here."

"There's nowhere else I'd be." He planted a kiss on her cheek, reaching over to the nightstand to grab her phone, tossing it gently to her. "I'm sure you have about a thousand messages." Bobby's eyes gleamed, "and I'm sure a specific someone will be calling when it's a decent hour there."

At the mention, her grin was wide. "He called me at midnight but I don't remember much except yelling how much I loved him into the phone."

"I'm sure he knows," Bobby laughed, gesturing beyond them, "go take a look at your surprise."

"Shit," Stefani said, suddenly alert, "I totally forgot."

She leapt out of bed; a kid on Christmas morning, making Bobby laugh again, pulling out his phone to snap pictures as she nearly plowed him over in her haste to get into the suite's spacious living area.

It was impossible not to see what Bobby had been talking about and when it came into her sight line, she gasped, a hand flying over her mouth.

In the center of the room sat a majestic arrangement of white tea roses, their heady fragrance filling the space. There could only be one person who had sent them and exchanging a teary eyed smile with Bobby, she took a minute to bury her nose in their velvet petals, closing her eyes to drink in the scent.

God, she missed him, the thoughtful gift only serving to deepen the ache in her chest. It was difficult enough to navigate a relationship out of the public eye and balance life with their respective careers but having to consciously be away for filming's sake was almost unbearable. It would be his turn next month, with some downtime together in between and the thought of another separation made her a little weepy.

But she was sure that on today of all days, he would want her to only think of the things that made her happy and she plucked the card out of the arrangement, her eyes softening while she read.

The happiest of birthdays to you, love. I wish I could be there with you to celebrate but I promise we'll have the most beautiful day once we're together again. I hope your day is special because it's only what you deserve.

Love Always,
B

Her eyes watered at the
sentiment and quickly, she wiped them, turning to Bobby, brightening. "He's the sweetest."

"That he is. Hey, I'm sure you were probably distracted and I don't blame you but you've got some other deliveries, too."

He pointed to several flower arrangements, along with a rather large pile of gifts on a table and she giggled.
