Neviah rolls over to her side, leaves crunching from her weight. Her brown eyes flutter open from the smack of the wind against her face. A gasp escaped her lips as she sits up from her previous position. Confusion falling onto her face, her head bobbing in every direction trying to recognize where she's at. "What the hell?" The young fairy whispers.
A flash of light shoots through the trees that surround her.
"Hello?" The fairy calls into the night. "Can anyone help me?" The sound of sheep making noises scare her into being quiet.
The brunette takes a deep breath before stepping forward, leaves and twigs crunching under her feet. She shivers, wrapping her arms around to give herself some kind of warmth-- her flimsy pajamas doing absolutely nothing to keep her warm.
She slowly moves forward, the barrier surrounding Alfea shimmering in front of her. She notices a slight break in the barrier at the bottom, she leans closer to it to see what it is; two bloody fingers popping out. Her breath shutters, the fog surrounding the dark forest thickening as she debates crossing the barrier. As if her body had a mind of its own, and before she could really weigh the consequences, she pushes herself through the barrier.
Her wide brown eyes manically flitter across the scenery. She didn't exactly know what she was looking for but maybe something to explain how she got in this predicament. A gasp escapes through her lips as she feels her feet squish in some type of liquid. Her wide brown eyes clench in disgust as an odor hits her nose.
"Please," she begs. "Please don't let it be a dead body."
She takes another deep breath before gaining enough courage to look down. A paralyzing scream releases from her mouth at the sight of a dead old man, burns surrounding every inch of the corpse as blood slowly pools out of it.
Sweat covers Neviah's forehead as her body tugs into a sitting position. Her comforter surrounds her, pillows laying carelessly on her bedroom floor.
"Happy to see you too," Tecna smirks, unpacking her clothes from her suitcase that lays atop a bed diagonal from Neviah's.
The short-hair girl looks over at her best friend, noticing the look of unease on her face. Her long legs quickly carry her over to the side of the unkempt bed.
"Was it another vision?" Worry drips from Tecna's tone as she bends down to meet the other fairy's eyes.
Neviah struggles to nod as she heaves, her stomach bubbling from the picture of the burnt corpse that is now ingrained forever into her head.
"What was it this time?" The technology fairy asks.
Neviah just shakes her head, not ready to talk just yet as she still hasn't quite gathered herself.
Tecna puts a finger up. "Actually you don't have to answer that," she rushes out before skipping over to one of the duffle bags on her bed. "I spent all summer working on this. I know it's hard for you to sometimes talk about what you see so I started thinking and one thought led to another and ta da!," she boasts excitedly, pulling out a sort of head contraption that looks like a headband thinly connected to some kind of orb.
Neviah's eyes widen. "What is that?" She chokes out, a tint of fear encasing her face. While the fairy loved Tecna endlessly and fully supported her work, there has been one too many times that Neviah has ended up in the infirmary because of one of Tecna's failed gadgets.
"I call it Magnetic Vision Probe or MVP for short!" She smiles proudly, holding the contraption up like it's a first place trophy.
"What does it do?" Neviah inquires cautiously, Tecna ignoring the other girl's obvious wariness and immediately straps the MVP onto her oval-shaped head.
"Well skipping all the fancy technical stuff that I know you won't understand... Basically, what it will do is it will maneuver its way into your mind and subtract the visions and project them into this orb where anyone can view them. It also has a storage," she fake coughs. "1258gb," she adds vauntingly. "So if you ever need to look back on your visions they will be right here."
Neviah raises her eyebrow, unconvinced. "Really?...and it actually works?"
Tecna shuffles. "Well, I don't really know anyone else who gets visions so this will be a test run," she quickly spits out. Her arm reaching over her best friend and pressing the power on button before Neviah can protest. A whirring sound surrounds the two as the orb rapidly flashes all colors of the rainbow.
"What's happening?" Neviah asks, panicked.
"It's working!" Tecna yells back. "I think..."
"You think?!" Neviah yells, her body flinching as the headband shocks her. "Ow!" She groans, her arms reaching to pull the contraption off.
"Wait wait!" Tecna tries to stop her as the orb blurs, an image starting to appear. "It's working!"
The two girls focus in on the orb, watching closely as a muddled image of a dark forest becomes visible. Neviah gasps, sharing a wide-eyed look with her best friend.
"Oh gnarly!" Tecna mutters in amazement at the sight of the corpse that haunted Neviah's dreams. The orb pans out to the rest of the forest, the night sky a haunting color of black. Almost like the universe was trying to give a hint as what's to come.
The two girls jump back at the sight of what look liked a person covered in flames and burnt flesh took over the orb. The monster releasing a growl that shook the whole room. Fear igniting within the two girls, the hairs on their necks coming to a stand.
Neviah rips the MVP off her head, throwing it onto the floor. She breathes heavily, her body shaking. Neither of the two girls knew what to say.
After a few minutes of silence, Tecna's raspy voice breaks through the silence that enveloped the room.
"What the hell was that?"
Neviah shakes her head. "Nothing good," she whispers back before taking a deep breath. Dread fills the young mind fairy as she releases what's been on her mind ever since she has woken up from her sleep.
"Alfea's not safe anymore."
NOTES. this is more of a disclaimer than anything but musa will still be a sound fairy in this book! i hate that they changed her into a sensation fairy. as well as tecna will be a big part of this book and will have loads of tecna content! alot of ideas i used are spins on things pulled directly from the cartoons, comics, books etc so hopefully i do it justice.
