Mariah was still in a state of shock since she had left Abby's house. She had rushed out of the Chancellor mansion; her head spinning from the request. She had quickly texted Tessa and asked her to meet at Crimson Lights.

Mariah knew that she needed Tessa in that moment to snap her out of this state of bewilderment. She sat there, just staring until Tessa arrived.
Tessa found Mariah out on the patio. "Hey," she said leaning over to greet her with a kiss. Mariah seemed dazed.
Tessa sat down and pulled her jacket tighter around herself protectively, getting the sense that she was not going to like this conversation. "Well, this had to be a surprise" she remarked.
"Yeah, you think?" Mariah agreed.
"What did you say?" Tessa asked.
"Well, I didn't say yes. I wouldn't do that without talking to you first" the red head stated.
Tessa eyed her as if that was an unnecessary statement to make. "But you didn't say no?" Tessa clarified a bit surprised.
Mariah shrugged. "No, I said I had to think about it."
Tessa exhaled and shook her head, "I mean, I have to say Mariah, I am kind of surprised Abby asked you. I know how badly they want a family; you know I want that for them too. But, given the stage we are at in our lives, at least where I would like to think we are, it doesn't really seem like a reasonable request" she explained.
Mariah took in Tessa's words. "I think Abby was looking for someone she trusts and she considers me to be a good friend. This is obviously a huge ask but I think she knows that" the red head defended.
