His voice, raspy and cold killed the silence. "Alaska..." it choked. Suddenly I rose from my slumber alert.
My eyes searched for the source of his voice, my eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness. I dared not to move a muscle although I was already frozen with fear. He laughed. I opened my mouth to scream but nothing came out.
His laugh hung in the air for several seconds but it felt like an eternity as it played over and over in my head. It was then I felt his cold breath on the back of my neck. My head slowly turned, but he wasn't there I stared behind me then turned around and my eyes had adjusted and focused. He was there...
His hollow black eyes stared at me with a sharp toothy grin across his face, blood gripping from his jaws. I lowered my vision to his hands. They were swollen and large and his claws were holding him up, his back was arched and his spine had ruptured through his thin skin, I stared in horror unable to get up and run.
He crawled closer to me still grinning his claws ripping my legs slowly. Tears threatened me, one escaped and stopped mid way down my cheek. I was frozen with fear. Death. All I could see when I blinked was him grabbing me and ripping me apart. But he didn't he had crawled to my face now and whispered "I am The Rake.". No sooner than had he said it he was gone into the shadows again seeking his next victim.....
