Some Mornings Suck

'Morning!' I yelled as I jumped out of my covers. My alarm clock was crying out, the tiny screen showing 6:30am on the dot. This morning was like no other though, but I just didn't know it yet. Quickly opening the curtains, i peered out of my bedroom window to see the speeding cars on the busy road. The sky was a brilliant blue colour, almost blinding my tired eyes. My clothes for the day, a band shirt and black jeans with underwear and socks, lay in a heaped mess on my chair and I began to peel off my sweaty pyjamas and replace them with the clothes from the chair. I shoved my pyjamas into my overflowing washing basket, where I kept all my dirty clothes I needed to wash.

I walked down stairs and my mom greeted me with her usual, 'Amy, you need to get ready for school or else you will be late!' and yes, I knew that but mom is very cautious. I quickly scoffed my chocolate chip pancakes and grabbed my bag, slung it onto my back and sluggishly trudged out of the house to begin my long walk to school.

I was shocked to see my good friend, Conan stood outside. He was smiling at me and told me he was going to be accompanying me for my walk to school. I had no clue why, but then he began to explain. 'So, you remember what it is today right?' he screeched. 'Uh, am I supposed to?' I replied in a confused tone. 'Yes you are! Today is ticket day. You always look forward to this every year, i'm surprised at you Amy!!!!' he belted out, loud enough for the old man on the other side of the street to hear. Ticket day was the day I have always loved. Five of the school's best students get given two tickets for an event. All five students get different events, ranging from concerts to musicals to opera shows. I then remembered, it was for good students and the best ones. I was by far one of the worst students in school with my forever sloping grades and issues at home.

Conan passed me a headphone and we both walked down the street listening to our favourite band. Both me and Conan LOVED Mindless Self Indulgence and the mischievous lyrics that our parents didn't approve of. 'Molly was a good girl' He sang, 'And she knew the reason why!' I sang along too. I had every vinyl and t-shirt. I was some-what a super fan.

Me and Conan stood out a lot at school. He was transgender, and people bullied and teased him for it. As for me, I wasn't what you would call straight at all. We were nicknamed 'The trans and the lesbo' by all the bullies but to be honest, it didn't bother us at all. We had each other and that was all that mattered to us.

We were listening to 'Never Wanted To Dance' when we got outside of our school and the bell rung.

We tore out the headphones and ran inside. We were both half an hour late, and were given detentions. The boys in the class teased us and at one point i felt like crying but i made it through until assembly time. Thank god.
