The rain has stopped as I walk up to my front door. My Christmas decorations look more festive then the rest of my neighborhood. As I stare off skimming each house, I remind myself this is only temporary. This will not be home. I sigh and slowly open the door.
The smell of my new sugar cookie candle welcomes me as I happily take off my coat.
"James!" I shout. "I'm home!"
"Yes you are" He chimes as he scurries down the stairs. He walks over to me cupping my face welcoming me with a sloppy kiss.
"Hi" I smile "Someone is in a good mood"
"I can't miss my beautiful Fiance'?" He asks as he stirs whatever he is cooking.
"And the candles? The dimness?" I chuckle but can't help but melt over the dedication he put into all this.
"Look hey, I am just celebrating that we finally made it through the week. I know you were a little hesitant on meeting my family and I ju-"
"Woah woah woah, noo. YOU were hesitant. I am the one that thought of the brilliant idea of meeting your parents since we ARE engaged now." I correct him
"I wasn't hesitant.....I was...just.."
"Mhm, yeah." I laugh. "Listen, I don't care what you think. They'll love me"
I am so the one to come to for fashion advice, martini hour, girl talk, especially nail colors. I am a natural with matching color's to one's personality. That explains my french tips. "Classy"
"It's not that.. my family is a lot Addi. More than I can handle sometimes. I just don't want you to-"
"Mmmm what're you cooking" I cut him off. He walks over behind me wrapping his arms around my waist kissing my shoulder as he sighs in defeat. "Eggplant Parmesean" he says resting his chin on my shoulder.
We finish the night stuffing our faces as we prepare for the road trip we have ahead of us.
