I used to think my life was so ordinary that nothing about it could even be extraordinary.

I had both parents in the same house, I was an only child, I had a perfect GPA, and had only one best friend.

I played piano and sang most of my life. I guess that is the most extraordinary thing at that moment.

My grandpa used to tell me stories before I go to bed. They used to be different every time. The one that scarred me the most was the one he told me when I was six. He said there was a girl. No one knew her name. But one day, she went missing. Everyone went into total chaos because this girl was the nicest, funniest, most beautiful girl. When they found her, she was mean and ugly, with a missing tooth and hair straight up. And when somebody asked her what happened she said ths monsters found her. That's when my parents came in and told my grandpa to stop.

One day, my best friend Ciera and I were walking home from school. We were both only two years away from driving at that point so we walked mostly everywhere.

In front of my house there were around five police cars and an ambulance.

I tried to go around the crime scene tape but a fat policeman stopped me saying that I would be "trespassing".

"Hello." I said to the back of the fat guy who stopped me. "Can I ask why all if you are in the way of me being able to go into my own house?"

One of the other policemen turned around and said "You must be Felicity Torman."

"That's me." I say. "Now, why are you here?"

"Your parents, Jamie and Jim Torman, got into a car crash off the bridge by Channter Street. One of the witnesses knew who they were and said they lived here. Your grandfather, George, was here and we told him the news. He killed himself on the spot."

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, taking it all in.

"You will be put in Clentricliffe Orphanage." he says. "I can escort you there."

"Sure."

That's when everything changed.
