Isilme

********

Sunlight poured through the curtains into my bedroom as I woke up. It was another bright morning at Castle Gaelin. The same sight that greeted me every day. Thanks to my room being on the side facing the rising sun of the elven realm. It beat having a phone alarm rattling my eardrums early in the morning. Walking over to my washstand, I looked into the mirror to see my reflection. I saw a beautiful elven princess with long light brown hair and silver eyes with a magic tint of lilac.

Two months ago, I was a human woman living on Earth. Or at least I thought I was human. An unfortunate orphan born with the abilities of clairvoyance and telekinesis. While other kids my age were learning to play sports, build things, and cheat in school, I wanted to learn about royal manners, nature, and divination. My gifts made my life seem like a curse. I had been ostracized by most people for them. Only one girl and one woman accepted me for who I was. My dear childhood friend, Aurora, and the director of the orphanage who was like a mother, Miss Gracie.

As I grew up, my friend got adopted and I didn't. No one wanted me for my gifts. I was a freak in everyone's eyes. But Miss Gracie never stopped believing in me. She encouraged me to embrace my gifts and to live my own life. When I graduated high school and was old enough to leave the orphanage, I moved to the University in Philadelphia to learn how to be a wildlife vet. I wanted to help animals as I had a special connection with nature.

I faced the same challenges and stares I did back at my old home. But I did what I could to survive. I worked three different jobs, including as a private medium, using my gifts to help others by telling their fortunes. It allowed me to pay my rent and collage money and I was about to get through over three years of college. I did sent some of my wages back to the orphanage. It was the least I could do to repay their kindness.

But my life took a huge curveball two months ago. I was walking home, minding my own business, when I was kidnapped by a member of the Russian mafia, Vladimir Kovak. He wanted to use my gifts to aid him in a bank robbery, something I couldn't and didn't want to do. I was held captive for days before I was able to escape using my gifts. I had been beaten and starved, but thankfully, nothing else.

Just when I thought I was going to die, I ran, by chance, into someone I thought I'd never meet in a lifetime; an elf prince from another realm. He saw my plight and helped me escape to his realm of Oira Londe. But this was easier said than done. Centuries ago, the elves had to create a human banishment decree after humans nearly destroyed them after years of prejudicious war against magical beings. Thankfully, he and his parents managed to give me sanctuary in his family's castle and protection from the royal decree. They also noticed my gifts, which were something which were something a human shouldn't have. It wasn't long before we found out why I had them.

It turned out I was never human. I was actually an elven princess of a long-long elven clan, the Akasha Clan, who left the realm during the great war. My ancestors, the last High Priest and Priestess, ruled over our clan and were the seers and chroniclers for Oira Londe before they left. They even had their own secret language to write down the prophecies they made. I still didn't know why they left, but they probably saw something in humans to give them a second chance. I was the last of my clan and royal bloodline, blessed with rare and powerful gifts unlike any other elven clan.

That's who I am, Princess Isilme Akasha of the long-lost Akashan Clan.

It took some time to get used to being a princess. Having lived all my life on my own as an orphan and college student, I was not used to having people serve me. I still preferred getting dressed and getting ready on my own. Still, I had my seven maids who waited on me. They made sure to prep my washstand and vanity in the morning, prepared my bath in the evening, washed and mended my clothes, cleaned my room, those sorts of things. Sometimes the castle butler, Victor Ellisar, would help me straighten out my clothes or fix my hair beyond anything simple.
