Willow
The room was dark. It was moving up or down, and fast. I couldn't tell which way it was going because it was all too much. My stomach was in knots, and my hair was pinned to my face with sweat. I felt an acute pain in my left ankle, which didn't look quite right. Luckily, all I could see were two human like figures, with their hands reaching toward me. I sure hoped they were human. Something blinded me as if the sun started a staring contest with me. I tried to stand up, but fell over, and started throwing up. It was mostly spit, probably because I haven't eaten in days.
"Are you okay?" One of the figures said.
"We're not here to make friends with her. We're supposed to be bringing her back to the council!" The other one mumbled.
"Ignore her," The first one spoke in a soft voice that wasn't quite a whisper. "My name is Piper, and this is Harper. She's kind of obsessed with following the rules. We're council members, and we're in charge of.. " Piper exclaimed, but Harper cut her off before she could finish.
"The council wants to see you. Hurry up!" Harper rushed me out of the large box torturer, while Piper was trying to help me balance; and stop me from puking. I wanted to ask what the council was, and where I was, and who they were. Where was I?Piper
Harper was by my side as we were walking through the soft, clean, green grass. There were cotton plants all around us. The council had informed us of a new recruit. They said her name was something like Wilma, or Willa. I don't know. We only know a few things about her, and obviously she doesn't remember anything either. Harper and I are council members in charge of the new recruits. WILLOW! That's her name! Anyway, the only thing Willow remembers is the last thing she did, or last most important thing to her.
"Harper, what do you think this new recruit is like?" I said."I think she's probably a lot like the other recruits. Sick, tired, sweaty, and thinking about the only thing they remember." Harper was kind of like a Negative Nelly sometimes.
"I have a feeling she's going to be different" I remember saying.
"You say that for everyone. Everyone is the same. They all find a way out of here and back to their homes. Once you remember, you're back home in an instant." She said with a snarky tone in her voice. "People in the council never leave, no matter how much they remember."
"That's why I joined," I had said. "The council, I mean. Because I belong here. With you."
"Nobody belongs here, Piper. We're all just a little ... missing" Harper is always hiding something, I can normally figure it out. But this time I wasn't sure. Who doesn't like a little mystery every once in a while, I guess?
As we approached The Cave, Harper was telling me information that I needed to know about Willow. I wasn't paying too much attention. I wanted Willow to know we cared about her here. At least for the time being.Harper
I remembered. I know this sounds a little crazy, or good or whatever, but it's not. Knowing means that I could possibly disappear at any second. Even though that can't happen when I'm in the council, I still have nightmares about it. I can't show fear. Fear is a weakness.
We were walking toward the cave to collect Willow, the new recruit. Piper likes to think that we collect everybody, but honestly, this was her first one.
"Harper, what do you think this new recruit is like?" Piper had asked. I was wandering off in my own head, so I replied with the simplest answer.
"I think she's probably a lot like the other recruits. Sick, tired, sweaty, and thinking about the only thing they remember." Piper might think of this as negative, but I wanted to be completely honest with her so she didn't have any lies to back up on if she found out that I was hiding that I had a memory from her. We had reached the cave and immediately piper wanted to help the girl out by asking if she was okay. I needed to get out of this darkness, so I told them that the council needed them urgently to hide my fear. Forget about the complete truthfulness I needed to get out. It looked like Willow had been puking for hours and didn't have time to worry about who or what we were. Piper helped get her up and let her put all of her balance. She might've twisted her ankle or broken something, which was normal for the newbies.Alfie
"She's coming, everybody! Best behavior turned on! I have a feeling Willow is going to stay here awhile, and we need to show her our best sides!" the headmaster had said. He was looking directly at me as soon as the words "best behaviors" came out of his mouth. He knew me all too well . Squiggles was shaking like mad, and I knew it was because of Willow. All the companions knew what kind of companion the new recruits. It wasn't because they took us into a separate room or anythiing, we all just knew. In our souls. We just knew. I'm extremely proud of Piper though. As her companion, she hasn't ever really been on a new recruit mission. I hope they deliver her past HIM safely.
Squiggles
I am Sir Squiggles the knight. Most people call me Squiggles, but Sir Squiggles is what you shall call me! Alfie the Elf, or my dearest friend was by my side, looking oddly enough, shaky. Piper, his companion leader, was on her first recruit mission. He was trying not to show it, but you could see it. Piper is very close to her friends, and Alfie was probably worried about her getting past HIM. HE is a creature of which protects the land. HE does not have a name, or one that can be spoken aloud in this tale. As a mouse, I can see things from a different perspective than elves and humans. Of course we're not just an ordinary group of humans and elves and mice. There's every kind of creature. Dragons, witches, unicorns, and the worst of all, owls. These creatures are the most fowl of all the beasts in this land. There is not one creature scarier and more terrifying, and it didn't help that the new recruit was going to get an owl as her companion.
Hello everyone!! I am super excited for this story. It started out in a small, but awesome, English classroom with my imagination filled to the brim. So many ideas, but which to choose?! I hope you guys enjoy the rest of this book as we journey together. I will try to update Wednesday's or Saturdays.
