Chapter 3

A Week Later

Rapunzel moaned. "When are we going to be there?"

Merida rolled her eyes. "Soon, like I said two minutes ago."

Ugean grabbed Merida's shoulder. "She isn't really the type to walk a long ways. We walked all the way to her castle in like three days. She's kind of tired." Merida stared at his hand on her shoulder. He released it. She shook her head and continued on. The fairies floated around Ugean sighing and awing at each other.

Merida studied the trees next to her. "We are close."

"How close?" Rapunzel moaned again. Merida found it easier not to answer. Rapunzel walked up to Ugean. "What's her problem?" Ugean shrugged pretending not to know. Annoyed she asked the fairies. Their only answer was a sigh.

Merida came to a rocky hill. "It's just up this hill."

Rapunzel followed the hill with her eyes. Her mouth dropped. "Isn't that a little too high?"

"You can stay here is you want." Merida pulled herself on a rock. "Just watch out for dragons."

"WHAT?!" Rapunzel jumped in fright. And looked around her. "What dragons? No one said anything about dragons. Why are there dragons? What kind of person lives with dragon?"

"Calm down, Hiccup is just a dragon trainer." Merida continues to climb the hill. She turned to look at Rapunzel. "You coming or not?" Rapunzel squirmed uneasily. But soon walked up to the hill. "Don't worry most of them are friendly." Rapunzel glared at her.

"It's the most part that worries me."

They all climbed the hill for at least thirty minutes before they got to the top.

Merida grabbed Rapunzel's hand to pull her up. Rapunzel screamed. Merida turned around just in time to see a giant dragon flying towards them. They both dropped down to the ground. Merida could feel the wind as it flew over them.

Merida jumped up. The dragon was a deep black and a person was on its back. Merida smiled when she realized who it was. The dragon turned around and flew at them again. This time Merida didn't dodge it. She didn't even move. The dragon stopped so close, Merida could feel its warm breath on her face.

Hiccup's face popped up and he smiled. His hair was the same dark shaggy brown as Merida remembered. His skin was darker from being in the sun too long. He wore a black leather armor, with a red symbol on the shoulder.

Merida ran to the side of the dragon and gasped. Hiccup slid down and Merida stared at his leg. Or where it use to be.

"Hiccup..." Merida started.

Hiccup looked at his peg leg. "Oh yea... it's a long story."

Merida raised her eyebrows. "Well we have a long time to talk on the way."

Hiccup nodded his head, "Yeah I know about Elsa."

"How?"

"Haha I have a dragon, you really don't think I been to see Jack? I came there only a few days after you left. I have been searching for you." He looked at Rapunzel and Ugean at a safe stop farther away.

Merida could feel her cheeks burn with embarrassment. Even though she didn't know why. "So then will you come?"

Hiccup nodded. "But first I want you to meet someone. Merida this is Toothless." Hiccup gestured to the dragon next to him. Toothless turned his head and blinked twice.

"Uh.... hi." Merida glanced at him. Toothless nudged her with his head, sending her to the ground.

"Might want to be careful around that one." A girl voice came from behind. Merida turned to see a beautiful blonde.

"Merida this is Astrid. Astrid this is Merida a friend from when I went to school. And those over there are Rapunzel and I don't know the guy."

Astrid grabbed Merida's hand and yanked her to her feet. "Hi there."
Merida just starred at her. "Guessing dragons aren't really in Ireland."

Merida didn't answer. Hiccup grabbed Astrid and hugged her. "See you later Astrid." Merida looked away. He let her go. "Alright everyone hop on. We will be there in a day or so."

Rapunzel glared at Hiccup. "Are you kidding?"

Hiccup smirked "Nope."
