My eyes gradually open and roll over the room. Each sharp edge piercing my eyes, the white making my eyes burn. I sit up, rubbing my eyes clears the sleepiness from them. I place both feet on the floor, expecting a burst of cold, but was pleasantly surprised with heated floors. A smile makes it way onto my face. I shuffle to the window seat. I look out the window and study each building. Constructed of glass, metal and lights makes each building look the same.
Angry voices ring through the halls. my head turns to the door. Without thinking I walk towards the door, silent feet, and the air moving with me. The voices get louder. I open my door, stepping out into an amazing hallway. I look down the hallway and notice figures approaching, one points and begins to run towards me. I don't see Manson so I turn back into my room. With my back to the door I push it close, sweating and heart beating fast, I wait. The push on the door, but my push was harder. The door closes with a bang, the voice is muffled. " OPEN THIS DOOR!!" I hear, more words but they are cut off. a familiar voice comes through the door. " Jade? It's me Manson I apologize for this person scaring you. He is leaving."
After thinking about it, I reply weakly " Manson you can come in as long as that other person doesn't." I hear someone leave and a push on the door, I crawl forward. I turn just enough to see the person behind me. I smile because it is intact Manson.
We now sit across from each other staring at each other. Manson breaks the silence. " Have you ever looked in a mirror?" Manson smirks after he has finished. " Well in my prior life, of course I have. But in the past two days, that would be a no." I answer, Manson is almost perfect. He is kind and has great hair, eyes and a bright smile. But he is my doctor, never will that happen. My thoughts were cut short with another question. " Why haven't you looked in a mirror? You would be amazed at what you would see." Manson now is smiling. " Well having a mirror might help." I answer. Manson smirks and walks over to a bare white and glossy wall. I look at him like he is insane. He places his hand on the wall and pushes, the wall, well door reveals a bathroom. "You just had to look." Manson says. " I did! It wasn't there yesterday!" I say loudly. Manson looks like he is hiding something. I walk I front of him and into the bathroom, my mouth falls open. Amazed.
My eyes are greeted by glossy white tile, but about a third way up on the way there is a border of turquoise matte glass like tiles. the sink was floating and had sterling silver fixtures. I walk around a glossy wall. I am amazed again. This shower had a metallic silver head, and fixtures. The white tile is narrow and are mixed with a baby blue tile. Together the danced together, never clashing but flowing in beautiful patterns that were never exactly the same. The built on shelfs made of a white glossy material flowed with the tile, never did it disrupt the pattern. It was breath taking. I look further past the shower, which was hard because it is amazing. A tub was perfectly built in the corner. It is a glossy white material like most of the bathroom. The fixtures are silver and flows. I smile. I pivot on my heels, a white glossy porcelain toilet is at the other end, perfectly placed. I am amazed. " Manson could you leave, I would like to shower." Manson look hurt but shrugs it off quickly. "Of course. I'll visit in about one hour." Manson pushes the invisible door out, and another click means he left. I smile. Time to think.
I walk out into my room. I undress, and then walk back into the bathroom. The toilet is straight ahead, with the sink placed next to it. I use the toilet and then wash my hands. To the left of the sink is my shower, then in the corner across from the shower, is my amazing bathtub. I debate bath or shower. I choose shower.
I try to figure out the modern system. It is holographic images on a silver circle with a turning handle. I guess it is like the ones from 1,000 years ago. You adjust the handle to the left or right to add hot water or add cold water. A blue C is on one side and a red H on the other. I fiddle with the temperature for a while. But eventually it is perfect. A step down from scalding.
I now just stand there and think. My mind is racing now. " Why me? Why don't I remember dying? Or do I and just choose not to acknowledge it? What country am I in? Where am I living? Who is Manson? Why did I meet him in a morgue? How old am I? How old is Manson?" I just think of questions, but can't answer them. I suppose I need to do the research Manson was talking about.
My eyes wonder to the built in shelves. They don't hold any bottles of hair products or soaps. So I am confused on how I shower. but as I look closely there is a silver button under the first shelf. I hesitantly press the button. Holograms pop up and display bottles of shampoo and conditioner and body gels and soap. I look through the list for a few minutes. I settled on a bottle of "Fruit and Oils" a shampoo brand, that I liked the scent of. Because surprise when you select one, a burst of air shoots out from the top shelf. The air smells like the product you selected. I find it cool. I go with the same brand for conditioner. I use a body gel called " Glimmer and Shimmer" it smells sweet. I enjoy the new features to the shower. I was showering until a voice spoke to me. I scream and look around for a person in my bathroom, no one. The voice laughs and says " Jade its me Manson and I can contact you with the speaker in he shower. Sorry to scare you." I am practically crying I was so scared. " You could have started out with that." I say. "Yes I apologize but the fact that you answered I'm guessing you are still showering." I could hear a chuckle in the background. " I didn't think I picked up a phone. Care to explain how I picked up this call?" I snap. Manson is defiantly laughing. " There are sensors in the shower that sense human movement. So if you answer the hologram call then we may talk." I understand the pop up hologram now I thought it was an add. " Okay make me feel stupid Manson. I will change and you an come if you need to talk to me." And with that Manson hung up. And just then does it hit me how silent the water was. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't know the water was running. That is something I can fall in love with.
I walk into my room in a towel, my hair pilled into a towel that sits on top of my head. I shrug on the clothes I had worn yesterday, considering I don't own any others I guess. I resign to the window seat, and think about all the things I wonder. No new answers or revelations. A loud sigh pushes through the air.
Manson pushes the door open with so much force it bangs into the wall. I jump up and scream. I almost just died again of a heart attack. I look up to see Manson standing over me. He pulls me up, I was ready to yell at him, but he had something more important to say. " Time for you to research the things that are troubling you!" Manson says so happily it is sickening. I stare at him, and he begins to drag me from my room to another. To find the answers that I need.
