a battle to capture, the first part.

WARNING!
violence and death are in this chapter.

the hours before the battle were spent doing daily activities. the dreamies would send each other knowing glances in the hallways as it was just mere hours before life or death.

tension between jeno and jaemin rose again. this time, it wasn't exactly hateful, more like awkwardness would get in the middle of the gryffindor and slytherin. luckily, this didn't interrupt their practice sessions together as they prepared for the battle at little hangleton's graveyard.

the group had kept speaking about their plans to a minimum, even with their closest friends. it was hard for yujin, since she wanted to explain why she wasn't able to study like usual with hyunjin after supper, but she couldn't.

yujin slipped her hogwarts robes off and stuffed her wand in the pocket of a jacket she wore underneath. she decided that robes would be to heavy and restrain her movements while fighting, so she opted for a lighter coat instead.

as the ravenclaw quickly went down ravenclaw tower's staircase, she mentally reviewed all necessary protection spells for the battle.

it was previously decided that yujin would hold a position of defense, since she was one of the most knowledgeable about defensive spells and charms along with renjun. their goal was to protect the others, but mainly jisung and chenle, who were the youngest ones. they made it their priority to at least keep the hufflepuff and gryffindor alive if anything would happen.

mark, jeno, jaemin, donghyuck and lucas would use offensive spells when necessary, such as providing a quick escape or defending against another long attack spell. mark and lucas determined that as the oldest of the group and team captains of their quidditch teams, they would lead the group and take full responsibility if headmistress mcgonagall got involved.

chenle would be the temporary healer, since he aced herbology. he knew a sufficient amount of temporary healing spells, with the help of yujin, and could wrap any injuries in a short amount of time. jisung would protect any supplies chenle had and any other items needed to winning their battle.

"ready to go?" renjun asked once yujin arrived at the common room.

"ready as i'll ever be," yujin responded shakily.

the two exited ravenclaw tower and headed to the slytherin dungeons, where they decided to meet up before sneaking out and apparating.

once the group was collected and together, they began their path to exit hogwarts grounds. a low fog tumbled across the grounds as the group walked past the windows in the halls.

"there's another entrance near the great lake," mark informed as the group of nine exited the castle near the boat grounds. "we'll have to get through the great lake by boat, exit hogwarts grounds, and apparate to little hangleton. since lucas and i are the only ones who can apparate, we'll be splitting the group. lucas will take jaemin, donghyuck, and renjun and i will take jeno, jisung, chenle, and yujin."

"but what about the creatures in the great lake?" chenle questioned. "and won't the teachers know?"

"it's fine, this is mcgonagall's evening embroidery time," mark replied, unlocking the gates to the boathouse. "nothing can get in the way of her needlework. yujin, do you mind lighting it up here a bit?"

yujin nodded her head and pulled out her wand. "lumos maxima!"

the light from yujin's wand illuminated the boathouse. as mark and lucas pulled out paddles and a lamp for the ride across the lake, jeno led everyone else to the boarding dock.
