5 years later

Time is supposed to heal everything, or at least that's how the saying goes. For Taraji, nothing could have prepared her for what she was going to face. Five years earlier, she couldn't have imagined she would endure what she did. She never expected to lose what she lost. Taraji never knew that would be a pain she would ever have to experience.

Today was the day that marked her wedding anniversary, as well as the day that almost broke her completely. As she stared outside at the rain falling through the bay window, she began to sink deep in thought. For some reason, this anniversary hadn't hit her as hard as the other ones did. It's true that she felt as if she would never ever, get over it, but she was making progress, with a ton of help from her companion.

Going to therapy played a huge role in her progress as well. It helped her to stop blaming herself, because after all, she had a daughter and two rapidly growing boys to help look after. She was so deep in her thought she hadn't noticed footsteps approaching behind her. A pair of arms rested around her waist startling her before the realization of who it was settled in.

"Good morning baby." She smiled, taking in his scent. Taraji secured her robe, spinning around in his arms.
"Good morning beautiful." Terrence responded, pulling her into him a little more. They sat in a comfortable silence for a moment.

"Last night, I went and bought the flowers for today." Her husband told her. For five years now, every year on this day, Terrence and Taraji would visit the cemetery and place flowers on the tombstone of their dear friend. "Mama volunteered for Kenya to stay with her for the weekend. She wants us to get away and spend some alone time together." Terrence said.

Taraji let out a hesitated sigh, giving Terrence a clue of what she was going to say.
"What about the boys?" Taraji asked.
"They wanted to go to Swizz and Alicia's house for the weekend, to hang out with Genesis." Terrence answered. Since the incident, Taraji never wanted Kenya, Qirin, or Hero to leave her side. Terrence had finally took Mira to court, and upon her absence, he was granted full custody of his sons.

Taraji laid her head on Terrence's chest, securing her arms around his neck before she gave her answer.
"Baby, you know I would love to go, but you also know how I feel about leaving the kids. I don't care if I'm just going to the grocery store, they're always with me, even if it's to go on set. And when they aren't with me, they're with you." Taraji replied.

"Alright baby. How about you think about it? Okay? I'm gonna head to drop the boys off at Swizz's. When I get back, we can head to the cemetery. Once we finish up there, you just say the word and we'll be on our way. I have bags packed already. Just think about it my love. Okay?" Terrence lifted her chin to where their eyes met.

"I'll think about it." She returned with a warm smile on her face.
"You promise you'll at least consider it?" Terrence pried, feeling as if she wasn't being honest.
"Yes Terry I'll consider it." Her smile grew.
"Okay." Terrence shared a grin of his own, pulling her closer to him. He placed a gentle, yet passionate kiss on her lips. Taraji returned the kiss with the same amount a passion, if not more. As usual, his wandering hands began to slip down, rubbing, then gripping backside, which he loved so very much.

"Ughh! Can you guys not be smoochy- smoochy for one day?" Qirin whined. The now ten year old drug his bags the rest of the way down the stairs, groaning at the sight before his eyes.
