"sign up for the school's battle of the bands, its next friday!"one of the schools's 9th graders shouted, handing flyers to students who passed by. he sat back down and sulked in his chair, looking back at his friend who also looked upset.
"one group barely signed, hyung. if we don't have an actual competition by friday they'll close the music club!"the boy groaned, tugging on his friend's uniform.
"don't worry, hyuka. there must be someone here who can compete. don't lose hope."taehyun, another 9th grader said, trying to comfort his friend. but at the same time, he was comforting himself too. hueningkai suddenly gasped, startling the other a bit. then giving him a confused look.
"choi soobin! we have to ask him to compete with us!" hyuka flashed his pretty smile. "huh? isn't he in the volleyball club? he can play an instrument?" taehyun tilted his head, not imagining that he would be someone interested in music.
"well i'm not sure about that..but he can sing! i saw him singing with his friend back in the courtyard..wait his friend too! he was playing the guitar! we can collect them like pokemon!" hueningkai excitedly jumped.
"great! now the thing is..will they even want to participate?"taehyun slighty pouted, sighed once again. "lets hope for the best." hueningkai smiled.

"good practice everyone! make sure to rest before working out, and stay hydrated! goodnight!" soobin, the volleyball captain taehyun and hueningkai were talking about said, dismissing everyone to go home or whatever they had planned.
soobin wiped his sweat with a towel, giving it a face of disgust. "hyung, are you ready to go? it's going to be so much fun now that exams are over~" beomgyu, soobin's friend shouted excitedly after bursting into the gym. soobin hummed in response, too exhausted to answer gyu.
beomgyu usually waited for soobin to feel less tired before hanging out, because he knew the older would be complaining and whining if he didn't rest a bit. "so~ i successfully wrote my first song, i don't plan on doing anything special with it but it was still fun." beomgyu proudly smiled.
"is that why you brought your guitar? play it before we go" soobin reached for his friend's guitar case, pulling it closer. beomgyu nodded. he wasn't a professional yet, but he was really good at both singing and playing the guitar. he started playing the song, but then stopped in the middle, confusing soobin.
"what's wrong? it was good" soobin asked, "i would need a drummer in this part but..i only have a guitar so i guess this is where it ends" beomgyu sighed, sorta disappointed. "ah, it's okay..don't you have the other one? where it's just the guitar, why make another all of a sudde-"
"i may have signed us up for the battle of the bands thingy- i'm sorry i just got excited when two 9th graders asked me if you and i could be on their band thing. they looked so excited to ask me, i couldn't say no! don't be mad, hyung!" beomgyu ranted, trying to convince an annoyed soobin to agree with the band thing.
"fine i'll do it! but if i stop breathing in the middle of the performance it's your fault!" soobin frowned, playfully pushing beomgyu. as time went by they were out and soobin had locked the gym beomgyu had something else to say.
"also you'll have to ask choi yeonjun if he wants to join since he's literally the only actual good bassist in this boring school." beomgyu grinned once he saw soobin's panicked face. "w-what?!"soobin yelled, before beomgyu got murdered he decided to make a run for it.
"choi beomgyu! you know it's only acceptable for me to run for training don't make me chase you! plus you said you would buy me ice cream! i want ice cream!" soobin shouted, running lazily to gyu.
//
"what if he says no? it'll be so embarrassing" soobin pouted, the pout turned into a frown in disgust after looking at the group of basketball players. it made him think, 'why do i even like a basketball player in the first place?' "you like him or something?" taehyun giggled,
"i just met you, and you're already being like this?" soobin glared. "but i ki- i- uhm why do i have to ask him anyways? why not one of you?"soobin sighed, "i don't know, beomgyu hyung said he wanted to make you suffer ha-" beomgyu flicked hueningkai on the fourhead, shutting him up.
"you didn't hear that, kay' binnie hyung. now go!" beomgyu pushed soobin closer to the group of 'athletes'. giving soobin the attention of them quickly, "uhm i- um c-can i speak with yeonjun? the captain of the vo-basketball team, right?" soobin was mentally cursing at himself for messing up.
they all shrugged and continued talking with each other until yeonjun stood from his seat and approached soobin. soobin didn't know where the heck to look so he looked at the sky instead, maybe the floor was better.
meanwhile, beomgyu, taehyun, and hueningkai were almost explosing from laughter in the distance. "yes?" yeonjun asked the younger. 'right. i forgot this wasn't a nightmare' soobin thought before giving the older an awkward, yet pretty smile.
"h..hello, im choi soobin. I'm in the volleyball team. i usually don't do these kinds of things or events but would you like to join my friend's band..we don't have a bassist. and you're the only actual good person in campus who can play that so...please?" soobin quickly said.
he felt like he needed fresh air while literally being outside but besides the point he was probably crying inside. yeonjun hitched his breath and took another look at soobin, then noticed the three other boys who were watching. they quickly turned away once they saw yeonjun staring.
"i-it's fine if you don't wa-" "i'll join" yeonjun said, patting the younger's shoulder. "oh. o-okay, thank you. um we're all meeting in the music room, today after school. heres the song we're trying to learn..if you want to learn the lyrics before we all meet" soobin smiled before walking away.
"i still hate you, but he said yes"soobin told beomgyu, they all cheered. the thing about yeonjun was, he was popular. like really popular. not just because he was an athlete and handsome, but because he was a trainee. since he wasn't allowed to say what company all he could say was that the company wasn't big but he knew it would have a successful future.
yeonjun still wasn't captain though, but since the actual captain of the basketball team got in an accident, and yeonjun was the one who helped him out whenever he was gone, it was his turn to help his team from now on.
