The zestful wind chased the white car whose surface reflected the rays of amber onto it, its windows had no glasses right then to block the golden shower or the cool breeze. Through it did a face peep out making a sight of the tranquil milieu. He was not used to this silence. The evening was cheerful to him. But today wasn't a normal day. It wasn't a day he wanted to imagine. A tear passed his waterline through a small gap between his maroon shade and his cheek bone. The day was so mean to him. How could the Almighty not have pity on him? He wished he didn't have a heart....no heart...no heartbreaks......no love....no trust! His heart ached, he wanted to cry his heart out...but he couldn't.....he was taught that a brave man never shaded tears. (else, what do you think the shades were for?) But nobody told him that a man gets tears, to be shaded!
He brushed the thoughts aside and brought himself back to the reality. He was sitting in the car with an open window to his right, he leaned on to it. Gushes of air slooshed his face drying the moisture on his skin. Fresh Air! He was getting fresh air....the purpose of his arrival. That was the excuse he made to himself to bring himself out of the mess, though he knew he couldn't go far escaping. He was feeling the blowing wind. Out of the blue, a smile curved his lips and he didn't have a reason behind it nor did he want to find one.
The wind on contrary admired his smile....because it had witnessed the same on someone else's face too while it was blowing. It found someone else too....who was leaning on the window glass, looking at the dried leaves hanging on the thick branches of trees. Surrounding to those few dried leaves were millions of green leaves, through which the orange ball of fire beamed its last rays enlightening her face with a golden shine. She smiled thinking that her mission was over and Ranbir's love for her too. She harked back to the scene where she was staring at the fingers of her sister and him, especially her ring finger.......It was so beautiful!
She kept on smiling when she glanced at the tree again. One of the dead leaves she was staring at, slowly detached itself from the strong branches, making space for another beautiful green leaf. The green leaf would be aesthetic, bright, helpful and full of life....unlike the dull, useless, dead leaf. However, the next thought cascaded a tear down her eyes, but she didn't stop smiling. That leaf.....it was once a bright one wasn't it?.....time made it dull.....it served the tree for so long.....it was once a reason for its existence...wasn't it? Won't the tree bid a last goodbye to her before she touches the soil? Won't it show a bit of gratitude to her before she leaves her beloved forever? Closing her eyes she felt every scene that had taken place today afternoon. Ranbir adoring Rhea with his engagement ring.....their dance....and finally Ranbir's words "Tell me the truth Prachi....Don't you love me?" She felt pain but tears didn't come out.....they were tired.
The tired eyes of the man searched for a destination where he could stop and have rest but the tires were not in the mood.....they were fierce....as they left their destination mid way, although knowing nothing more than 'it' could bring them delight. Suddenly, he felt his fingers heavy, as if an unwanted weight surrounded it. No! not all fingers.....only the ring finger of his right hand....which now held a golden ring with a rim of black, covered on the outer edge. It was precious but not to him.......he had no value for it.
A man could have had millions of responsibilities......but this responsibility was unbearable! He placed his thumb between the ring and the middle finger just to feel the presence....the presence of that unwanted weight he wanted to be free from. The girl on the other side.......she felt it empty. She brushed her fingers over the ring finger of her left hand. It felt so light! She felt as if something had to be there....something she is missing to her core....something she wanted to have but couldn't! Her chance was gone.....forever....the gap now, would never fill up!
