The floorboards creaked under her feet as she carried the huge metal machine to the backyard, placing it on a not so steady wooden table. The girl pushed her long brown hair away from her face as she huffed, placing her hands on her hips in annoyance.
This was the seventh time this week the sewing machine had broken and the small girl was getting annoyed, confused as to why the machine decided to not work after many late night maintenance hours wasted on the practically useless equipment. The girl sighed heavily, taking a screwdriver and taking the sewing machine apart completely. The girl slaved over the machine, promptly working on it for more than five hours, removing and changing the items inside to no avail, as if to tell her to give up the machine released a puff of hot air onto her face causing the girl to couch and duck away, scrunching her nose.
"Alright alright I get it, your done" she pat the machine, placing the multiple tools she ended up grabbing onto the table before walking back to her rather large cottage.
She entered, the smell of wood filling her nose as she walked straight to her bedroom and to her makeshift drawer. She pulled it open in search of something, the girl smiled as her hand glided across a leather pouch. Sliding it out she opened it and poured its contents onto her bed, kneeling down to count the various gold coins that had spilled across the white bedsheets."..12,13, 14...barely enough to even buy a blanket of straw.." her brow furrowed as she stood, placing the coins back into the leather pouch and closing it tightly, letting a sigh escape her lips, "No where near enough to buy any stuff to fix the sewing machine, let alone buy a new one"
She whined, bringing the pouch of coins with her towards her kitchen. The afternoon sun bled into the room as the girl opened the curtains on her way to look over her calendar. The calendar hung against the wall with the help of string and a nail, as the girl's finger scanned across the letters horribly written across the paper. She stopped when her finger landed across the big letters with multiple circles around it.
"TRADING DAY"
She sighed, biting her lip. Trading day was the only way she earned money in the area she lived, being miles away from the main town she had to make her own supplies to survive. It had its perks, the area was mostly quiet and she had more time to think and not be disturbed when she was working however, she wasn't able to make much money and was more prone to thieves and being attacked by a wild animal who happened to be looking for a meal.
"Three days away, geez, I'll no doubt have ripped most of my clothes by then.." She looked down at her clothes, the very short sleeved grey sweat shirt had tiny scratches, the black leggings it was tucked into were worse, having many holes, "Already have...."
The sudden loud thud and frantic calling of the sheep snapped her back to reality as she quickly grabbed a hunting rifle from the front door and slipped out, running behind her house and to the sheep pen only to groan.
"Oh you've got to be fucking kidding me"The sheep pen doors had been busted open and the sheep were spilling out, it was at this moment she had wished she had a herding dog at the moment as she tried to scare the sheep back into the large pen despite not being all that scary. Eventually most of the sheep were rounded inside best they could be as the girl pushed the doors close, a small sheep had managed to sneak between the doors and through her feet just as the sheep pen was shut. The girl called out to the little sheep who ran away, chasing after it as she grabbed her gun just in case.
The sheep ran into the forest like there was no tomorrow, much to the girls annoyed protests. The forest began to get more mossy, the girl could tell they were nearing a swamp and began to run faster after the sheep who was beginning to slow down. Finally within reaching distance the girl jumped for the sheep, grabbing onto it tightly as she cheered.
"Got you! Finally you little sneaky ba-"
She was cut off by a small pure white feather fell in-front of her. She stopped, watched it float to the ground curiously before leaning down and picking it up.
"What the- we don't have any white birds around this area?—"
She stopped once again as a drop of blood fell onto the feather being examined between her fingers, staining its once white appearance blood red as it spread. The girl immediately dropped the feather and took a couple steps back, holding the sheep tightly to her chest along with her hunting rifle, she looked side to side very confused wondering where the hell that came from. The sheep let out a panicked 'baaaa' as it looked upwards, causing her to have to hold it even tighter."WHAO Whao! Easy! What do you see-"
Her eyes widened as she looked up at where the sheep was, dropping the gun and poor sheep to the ground as she took multiple steps back and let out a horrified scream.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
