Hope & Josie - 22/21 - January 22

As Josie walks down the street leading to the restaurant she's heading to, she can't stop the fond smile that appears on her lips. She's holding her phone to her ear, and she hasn't been able to place a word for a solid five minutes, but her girlfriend's excited ramble is worth every second of silence. To be fair, Josie hasn't been able to follow everything coming out of Hope's mouth. Those art terms totally go over her head, but she can tell they all totally make sense to Hope.

Just as she's about to interrupt Hope and tell her she's gonna walk inside the restaurant, the Mikaelson girl stops speaking. Josie immediately stops walking, and opens her mouth to ask her girlfriend what's wrong, but Hope beats her to it.

"I've been talking for ages, haven't I?"

Josie's smile only grows bigger, and she shakes her head fondly.

"Just a little." She chuckles. "I didn't mind, though. You seemed to be really enjoying telling me about-" Josie stops as she realizes she can't even tell what Hope was ranting about. "Art things?"

Hope's laugh is literally music to her ears. "You could have told me you weren't following what I was saying!"

Josie hums. "Well, how about you explain everything to me tonight during our date?"

"That sounds good." Hope replies softly. "Are you almost at the restaurant now?"

"I just got there." Josie looks inside and a familiar face catches her attention. She smiles and waves. "I'm gonna have to hang up, babe. Jade's already here."

"Oh, okay." Hope clears her throat. "So, 5PM at my place, right?"

"I wouldn't miss Hope Mikaelson's cooking."

"Good. Have a great time with Jade." There's a little pause. "I love you."

Now that she knows the auburn haired girl means them in the same way she does, Josie's heart flutters everytime the words stumble out of Hope's mouth. After saying it back, the brunette says her goodbye to her girlfriend and hangs up the phone. Josie quickly walks into the restaurant, and right to the table where Jade's sitting.

The two women quickly greet each other with a hug before sitting down face to face. Josie's first thought is that Jade looks happy. The girl with dark blonde hair is smiling a genuine smile, and it makes Josie feel more at ease than she thought she would be. It's the first time she's seeing Jade since Hope and Landon's almost wedding. They kept contact, but both agreed it'd be better to keep their distance for a while. Jade was busy helping her best friend heal from a broken heart, and Josie had to navigate her growing relationship with Hope.

Conversations flow easily, just like they used to, as they eat their meals. It's only when they're done eating, and a comfortable silence settles between them that Jade decides to say something she's been dying to say to the brunette.

"I've been seeing someone."

The words immediately bring a smile to Josie's lips. The happy smile soon turns to a teasing one as she leans closer to Jade.

"Oh, really? How did that happen?"

"Don't give me that look, Saltzman!" Jade says as she playfully glares at Josie. "It's a long story."

"I have-" The brunette looks at the time on her phone. "Literally 2 hours to listen to it, so spill."

Jade chuckles. "I met her in Mystic Falls."

Josie frowns. "In Mystic Falls?"

"Yeah." Jade nods. "You know how we all got to Mystic Falls a couple of days before the wedding?" Josie nods, so Jade keeps talking. "Well, I went to the Mystic Grill one night to... drink. Landon was marrying the girl he loved, Rafael was flirting with some girl and you-" Jade sighs. "You were pining over Hope. To be honest, I was really sad and I felt kinda lonely. So, yeah, I went out to get drunk."
