To say that Marinette was tired was an understatement. 'Tired' didn't even come close to how completely exhausted she was.
Hawkmoth had kept her up all night with at least five Akumas of kids who had had a nightmare. Then she had to battle with some tired fast-food employee who had been selected for the night shift. And then, when she finally got to go home and rest, her alarm went off, not even giving her enough time to collapse into her bed. And to make matters worse, this had been going on all month long, to the point where Marinette was wondering if Hawkmoth was nocturnal. Or, would be wondering, if he didn't send an Akuma out for someone every day before lunch. The man had no sense of sleep.
Or maybe that was his plan all along. Tire out Ladybug so she snaps, giving him her miraculous in trade for a few hours of precious sleep. If he was, it was working. She had seriously been contemplating it as she dragged herself up the stairs of Collège Françoise Dupont.
When she reached her classroom, she narrowed her eyes, already hearing brash voices.
If Lila so much as looked at her wrong, she swore, she'd launch the bitch out the window. She was not in the mood to deal with the sausage-haired idiot, much less for her herd of sheep she dragged around with her.
Shoving open the door, Marinette walked up to go to her seat in the back but tripped over what had to have been Lila's foot, as there was literally nothing else in the aisle, and seeing as Marinette had finally worked on getting her clumsiness under control, it wasn't that either.
She regained her balance but didn't move to continue to her seat. She dropped her backpack on the floor, giving Lila her best glare.
"Oh, Marinette! I'm so sorry! I didn't see you!" Lila wailed, the edge in her voice only heard by Marinette, who was weighing the pros and cons of actually throwing her out the window.
She would've done it too, had it not been for the Akuma that flew into her earrings, turning them a black-purple.
"Princess Justice-"
"Fuck off, Hawkbitch," Marinette snarled, her scowl intensifying.
"B-but-"
"Fuck. off. I already said no. People like you are my problem. Thick-witted, controlling freaks who think that they can get whatever they want with just a few words. I have no intention to work with you, ever, and so help me, if I ever, ever. Come face-to-face with you, you'll wish that you never even fucking akumatised Ivan - or anyone at all - in the first place. Now get the fuck out of my head, bitch."
The class watched in a mix of terror and admiration as the Akuma immediately retreated from the drained girl.
Marinette picked her bag up, sending one last glare to everyone else around her, lingering on Lila for a second longer than everyone else, and made her way to the back, where she dumped her bag and laid her head in her arms, promptly falling asleep.
Everyone remained in shocked silence, which was only disrupted by an equally fatigued Adrien coming into the room and dropping right next to Marinette, falling asleep just as fast as she had.
"What the fuck."
