Cher's POV

One day before our wedding and the countdown has been the most craziest. The end of last year was somewhat hard for us since Meryl had several projects in door and so did I, but at the end we made it work and here we are, just one day before the big day.

Everything is perfect, just going how we have planned, but there is something poking my head that doesn't let me sleep. What is it? you may ask, well these past few days haven't been the easiest for us, for Meryl. Having the wedding so close has been triggering the memory of her parents. I've tried my everything to make sure she's fine, but I just don't seem to help. I don't seem to make it right.

"Babe what do you want for dinner?", I leave my phone down as she's reading a book with her head resting on the bed's headboard.

"Nothing", she looks at me only to look back at her book. This is how it's been, I only manage to get a few words out of her.. and I don't get it, we are suppose to be happy, we are just one day away from finally getting what we've both been dreaming of since the day we became a couple.

I sigh in the most silently way possible. "Okay", I climb out of the bed and head off to the bathroom. I fresh myself up a bit and after I'm done I walk out.

"Meryl", I say standing at the bathroom's door frame waiting for her to look at me.

"Mhmm?", her eyes were still busy on her book.

"I'm trying my best here", I say resigned.

She leaves her book down and takes off her reading glasses. "What do you mean?"

"Lately you've seem off and baby I'm trying to help you, I really am, but you just don't seem to want my help", I say walking towards the bed only to end up sitting on the edge of it looking at her.

She only looks down, I can see tears taking over her blue eyes.

"You know very well what's going on"

"I do and I want to help you. Meryl, we are just one day away from our wedding and you just seem off.", I add in the calmest way possible.

"Don't worry, tomorrow I'll be fine", there it is again, avoiding the subject and just pushing me away.

"It's not that Mary Louise, stop pushing me aside. I've been with you for over 20 years and yet here we are", I sigh and look down. "Do you want to put the wedding on hold? Would that make you feel better?"

She shakes her head. "You know I would never do that"

"Then?", I climb onto the bed to sit besides her. "Talk to me", I start caressing her right hand whilst holding it inside mine.

"I- I don't know.", she takes her hand off and stands up from the bed, leaving me behind.

Same story all over again, just exactly as these last few days. I sigh and start putting my shoes on. I rest my head on the bathroom's door. I was going to talk when I heard silent sobbing on the other side. It broke my heart seeing the woman I love hurt, it hurt even more knowing I couldn't do much for her to stop hurting.

Slowly a tear started rolling down my cheek, I wiped it as fast as I could. "I'm going out, I need to drop something off at Chaz's, okay?", I say parting from the bathroom's door.

The door opened and she was standing right in front of me. She nodded and before she walked over to the bed, I stopped her.

"I love you, you know that right?", I said and she weak smiled while lightly nodding.
