The blazing sun began to fall and it was getting dark. Valeriya hared hastily towards the ball room, using one hand to gather the skirt and pull it up and off to the side, the other hand holding her tiara in place. She ran as fast as she could, being cautious as her feet were in black d'orsay heels. Upon making it to the ball room, she peeked steadily through one of the doorways, spotting all kinds of people from all the four kingdoms gather in the ballroom.
The luminous chandeliers lit the place up hanging from the very cavernous ceiling and the ambience of around two hundred people talking paired with light-hearted laughter echoed through the room. Different groups of individuals scattered everywhere and people still continued to enter. The people invited ranged from regular citizens to the queens and kings. A large spacious area was in the middle of the ball room for dancing, while the round dinner tables were located on the sides near the doorways.
She felt a hand land on her shoulder, and she looked behind to see Lucien in a formal fitted suit. Her eyes twinkled, cheery to see him dressed this fancy again after the last party they celebrated. "You're here!" Valeriya squealed excitedly and gave the servant a big hug, the servant hugging him back. "Indeed I am, Val." They let go of each other, and Lucien pointed at some random people in the vast crowd, mentioning their names. "Hmm, isn't that Prince Kenji from the Esmond kingdom?" he pointed to a poker-faced ravenette boy, who wore a tuxedo adorned with small yet expensive jewelry. "And Queen Kiyoko of the Oryn kingdom, with her two daughters!" he pointed to three blonde females, who were all dressed in ravishing green dresses and embellished with delicate flower crowns wreathing the top of their golden head. Lucien put his hand down, and Valeriya nodded. "Indeed, it seems some of the monarchs from the different kingdoms are already here. It makes me a bundle of nerves!" the two laughed, one happily and the other awkwardly.
"Don't wait with bated breath, Valeriya." Mizuki, with a complacent smirk plastered on her face, approached the two who were gazing at other sovereigns. They turned their heads towards the alluring princess, who wore a very beautiful mermaid gown that had a stunning gradation from white to red to purple. Valeriya sighed and shook her head. "Well well well, arriving with the intricate gown to highlight yourself once more, sister?" she says with a mocking expression and her hands on her hips. "Well, of course, it's my birthday, obviously. And you, wearing the same gown? Didn't you wear that at you and Mother's most recent birthdays? What a hideous eyesore." Mizuki blew raspberries and entered the ball room, beginning to attract attention from fellow monarchs. They began to compliment her and chatter with her. Valeriya rolled her eyes spectating her sister be the star of the party as always.
The jibber-jabber ceased when the sound of a blaring horn was heard. Valeriya and Lucien stared at the main doorway, seeing two lines of knights and servants enter and position themselves at specific areas of the room. Two other servants, one male and one female, stood at that doorway and presented. "Tonight is the formal beginning of our festivity." the ginger-haired female said. "May we present to you now, Your Majesty, Queen Caieta Leighton." the two said in unison and bowed. Caieta, wearing an elegant long dark blue and red evening dress, made her entrance and a lot of the people in the room bowed as well. "Good evening, good evening." the queen smiled softly and nodded at specific people. "May I ask where my two daughters are before we begin supper?" She looked around in search.
Lucien elbowed Valeriya gently. "Your High- I mean, Val. Your cue." They saw Mizuki come to Caieta, who hugged her with one hand and waved at the crowd with the other hand. Valeriya was moderately hesitant to show up, but she was required to. Clenching her fist and swallowing, she entered through the doorway and drew near her mother. A lot of eyes were fixed on the brunette, which made her anxious. Caieta mouthed 'smile and wave', and Valeriya waved, struggling to give at least a fake smile. Her sister mutely giggled with her hand on her mouth, thinking. "She did this a hundred times, and she still can't get a grip of it."
