It was a quiet night. Everything was steady. The wind blew gently, and the moonlight shined brightly. The night was perfect. Well almost perfect. Lev would not stop tossing and turning in bed. Every 30 seconds the bed rocked as Lev flipped over in attempt to sleep, but who could blame him?
That night, Lev and Yaku, his boyfriend who was pretending to be asleep beside him, went to a party earlier. It was not just a party, but a nice formal party to celebrate Lev's cousin's wedding. They both had fun, but when Lev asked Yaku to dance, he was turned down without a reason. It really confused the Russian boy. Why would Yaku want to dance? Was Lev a bad dancer? Did his breath smell?
So here Lev was now, tossing and turning, letting his thoughts run wild in his head. With one last final turn Lev made, Yaku sighed. The short boy sat up and reached to turn on the lamp on the dresser next to him.
He turned to Lev, who has his back turned to Yaku. "Lev, what's wrong?" There was no response. Yaku shook his head. "Don't pretend to be asleep. I am not stupid."
With that statement, Lev reluctantly sat up and criss-crossed his legs. It was a childish habit, but Yaku didn't really care. In fact, he found it kinda cute. "I can't sleep." Lev murmured as he grabbed and stared at his ankles.
"I know Lev. You were tossing and turning for the past 3 hours." Yaku stated and changed his position to face Lev with his short legs propped beside both of Lev's knees.
"Sorry for keeping you up."
Yaku smiled as his placed his hands on top of Lev's tensed up ones. "I'm worried. You've been quiet since we got home. Tell me what's wrong."
Lev looked away from his hands and to the side. "But it's stupid," Lev replied.
Yaku yawned, tears forming at the corner of his eye. "Lev, this couldn't possibly be the stupidest thing you are going to say. Remember what you said in front of my grandmother?"
Lev smiled at the memory, which consisted of Yaku's confused grandmother and a elbow to the stomach. "I'm glad she didn't understand."
Yaku chuckled and spoke once more, "So are you going to tell me or not?"
Lev took a deep breath, blushing with embarrassment. "I was kinda shocked when you said you didn't want to dance with me. You were having a ton of fun, so I couldn't understand why your turned me down."
Yaku pulled his hands away and placed them in his lap. "I refused because..... " Yaku blushed, "I-I can't dance."
Lev looked up to find Yaku staring down at his hands. Lev started to smile. "Is that all you were worried about?"
Yaku nods. "I'm lucky that I don't trip on my feet during volleyball but dancing is another story."
Lev suddenly scooted off the bed and ran outside into the living room. Yaku scooted to the edge of the bed with curiosity. He stood up and followed Lev out of their bedroom to find his tall boyfriend moving the sofa to the wall, the coffee table already in the corner.
"What are you doing Lev?" The brown-haired boy asked.
After successfully moving the sofa to the wall, Lev looked at Yaku and opened up his arms in excitment. "I am going to teach you how to dance!"
"Right now?!?!?" Yaku yelped looking around their currently spacious living room.
"Yup! Right now! Not ifs, ands, or buts!" Lev grinned as he stepped forward and yanked Yaku to the middle of the living room. "Now this goes here and the other goes here!" Lev spoke as he lifted one of Yaku's hands to cover his shoulders and took the other into his palm. Lev's other hand wrapped behind Yaku's waist and pulled the smaller boy a little closer towards him.
Yaku couldn't help but blush madly. "L-Lev, this feels funny. I mean I look funny." Yaku stammered, looking down at his curling toes.
Lev placed his palms on Yaku' waist. "Nonsense! You are doing just fine, trust me!" Lev answered, flashing that irresistable smile that Yaku fell in love with. "Now just follow my lead!"
"Wha-?" All of a sudden, Lev took short steps, swaying a bit as he goes. Yaku clumsily followed Lev's movements, stepping in the same direction.
They continued moving for a couple minutes. Yaku apologized for stepping on Lev's bare feet every now and then, but Lev squeezed his hand and smiled.
Lev stopped and looked into the shorter boy's eyes. "Yaku-san, you are a natural!"
Yaku blush and looked away. Lev would always compliment him, but Yaku still has gotten used to it, even if they have been dating for 3 years. Stepping out of his comfort zone, Yaku went on his toes and placed his lips on Lev's. Lev eyes widened. Unlike Lev, Yaku doesn't randomly kiss his partner, but this was a surprise. After their brief kiss, they broke apart.
Yaku let go of Lev's hand and wrapped his arms around the Russian boy, burying his face in his chest. "I had the best teacher." Yaku muttered."Thank you Lev."
Lev smiled, wrapping his arms around Yaku and burying his face into Yaku's apple-scented hair.
"I had the best student" Lev whispered.
