The Royal Assassin

It was a night of celebration, Royals, arrived from the neighboring kingdoms, dukes and duchess's from across the lands, all gathering to the kingdom of Valeria to celebrate the joining of two kingdoms in marriage.

The daughter and soon to be queen of Valeria, princess Genevieve, danced with her betrothed in the center of the grand ballroom.

all the happy couples twirled around the dance floor in bliss, while in a dark corner of the grand room, stood a knight in armor, not just any armor, this armor seemed lighter, as if the person need to be swifter than the other knights, but no one seemed to notice for that matter, no one except one man who was intrigued by this mysterious knight.

He noticed that all the knights shifted places and did not remain in one place longer than a good fifteen minutes, yet this knight stayed still in that spot since everyone arrived to the reception, at first he thought it was just a statue of armor on display, but that idea had left after another knight had been seen talking to them every fifteen minutes, and every time the stranger watched and waited for the knight to be relieved of his position and every time, to his disappointment, he remained in the same spot unmoved.

The stranger tried to shake his thoughts of the mysterious knight from his mind, but every once in awhile he could almost feel the knights eyes in the back of his head.

The stranger is then pulled away from observing the mysterious knight when his companion pulls him to a dark side of the room

"I'm tired of waiting, let's just get it over with,"
The strangers companion rushed in a quiet whisper.

"Calm yourself Colin, everything is going according to plan, we will make our move when I give the signal and not a moment before."
The stranger calmly whispered back.

As the stranger turned to view the mysterious knight again, he was shocked to find him missing from his spot and the stranger couldn't help the uneasy feeling in his gut.

The stranger quickly looked both ways but could not spot the mysterious knight anywhere, but he did notice a woman enter and the mysterious knights absence was quickly forgotten

" now, go now!" The stranger whispered in a rush and started running as the lights were all blown out

Windows could be heard shattering as guests screamed and ran, causing chaos to erupt in the room, meanwhile the stranger calmly exited the ballroom and locked the doors on his way out, so the guests could not escape , and as he calmly rounded the corner he saw the woman who had just been entering the ballroom moments ago, running down the hallway in search of a safe hiding spot

The stranger quietly followed behind and as the woman stopped and leaned against a wall to catch her breath, he grabbed her and covered her mouth with a soaked cloth until she stopped fidgeting in his arms

And as her body went limp, he slung her over his shoulder and started quickly making his way to the servants entrance, as he turned the last corner, he was stunned to find the mysterious knight at the end of the hallway and blocking his exit

The stranger quirked a smile and walked slowly toward the knight
"I was wondering where you disappeared to" the stranger commented and paused as he reached the halfway point in the hallway

" I'm afraid I'm going to need you to move away from my exit" the stranger quipped
But the knight remained firmly in place
" okay, you can move or I can kill you and move your body myself" the stranger stated as he pulled his sword out with his free hand

The mysterious knights only reply was slowly pulling his own sword, it was so agonizingly slow it sent a shiver through the strangers spine and filled the room with anxious tension and as the knight assumed a fighting stance the stranger set the woman gently on the ground and took up his own fighting stance

"So be it" the stranger smiled with anxious delight and charged the knight
The knight side stepped and kicked the man in the back of his legs, making him stumble for a moment but the man made a quick recovery and spun around and started clashing his sword with the knights
The man becoming more and more agitated as the knight continued to swiftly block his powerful swings, the man started swinging faster and harder and as the man started to back the knight into a corner, the knight ducked and swiped the mans legs out from under him and the knight pinned the man down and held his sword to the mans throat, the knight was pulled of the man from behind and thrown into the far wall, the man was helped up by his companion and started to approach the unconscious knight as he massaged his throat

He kicked the sword away from the knight and picked up the knights discarded helmet and tossed it to his companion, the stranger squatted down and flipped the knight over and underneath the knights dark long locks of hair laid a young woman in armor

The stranger stepped back in shock as more of his companions entered through the servants exit, he picked up the lady knights sword and studied it with a furrowed brow
"You want me to kill her?" The strangers companion, Colin asked

"No, grab them both" the stranger stated with a strange smile and walked out holding the Lady knights helmet and sword as the men grabbed the two women and fled from the castle in a rush.
