We were careful

{LUCY'S POV}
I wake up in a tangle of blankets on the wrong side of Cabin Friendship. I remember my bold preposition and flush.

Natsu is snoring away next to me. During the night, I ended up using his arm as a pillow. I watch him sleep with a goofy grin on his face. He snorts and murmurs my name.

I giggle. He's too cute. I snuggle in close, pressing my head against his chest so I can the comforting rhythm of his heart.

I enjoy his body heat. He's like a radiator in winter; I want to be as close as possible.

I trace a finger down the contours of his chest and Natsu wakes right up. He sees me and grins, which makes my heart flutter.

He turns and wraps his other arm around me so I'm locked in his embrace. "Mornin' Luce."

"Good morning Natsu." I smile back.

Natsu studies me. "Your bedhead is adorable." He flips so he's on top of me. "If I recall, you don't have anywhere to be this morning..."

I laugh, twining my hands through his thick pink hair. "Hmm, I wonder what I should do? I haven't hung out with just the girls in a while."

Natsu growls. "They can wait until breakfast."

He pulls me close and I melt into him.

*timeskip a week and a half later*
It's a girls only night in Cabin Dragon, and I finally admit to the girls that Natsu and I are dating. They roll their eyes and tell me we're not nearly as secretive as we think we are.

"You keep stealing glances at each other then grinning. And the pranks are much less petty. It's kinda obvious." Levy-chan informs me.

I smile slyly at her. "I'm sorry, were you talking about me and Natsu or you and Gajeel? I'm not the only one in a poorly hidden relationship."

Levy-chan flushes. "We're not dating! I swear that guy doesn't even know my real name. I am not an cocktail appetizer!"

"Served cold." I snicker. Levy-chan throws her pillow at me.

"Oh! I almost forgot!" Erza says suddenly. "Lucy, when you got shoved in Cabin Friendship, the movers didn't pack your tampons, did they? I don't get why males refuse to touch them, even when they're unused and in a package. I kept forgetting to hand them off to you."

A ball of ice is forming in my stomach. "Girls, what day is today?"

Their expressions immediately change from amusement to concern. Erza checks her phone. "The 12th of July."

I curse. I'm pretty regular and I definitely should have started my period by now. A string of expletives falls from my mouth like a waterfall.

I admit to not being on the pill, but we were careful. And well-stocked, thanks to Natsu's care package from his dad. Oh Mavis, what am I going to tell my dad? This can't be happening. I'm 17!

"Calm down." Juvia advises. I realize I'm hyperventilating. "Juvia thinks we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Lucy-san may not be pregnant."

"Yeah." Levy-chan agrees. She comes over and rubs my back gently. "We have to get a test."

Erza grabs her car keys. She has a driver's license and her own car at camp. "There's a drug store a couple miles east. I'll be back in ten minutes."

"Buy at least three." Levy-chan instructs. Erza nods and leaves the cabin.

"Thanks girls." I sniffle and blow my nose in a tissue provided by Juvia. I love my friends.

It feels like forever until Erza gets back, toting a plastic bag with three pregnancy tests. We head to the communal bathroom, and head to the stall furthest away from the door.

I grab one hesitantly and read the instructions. My nose crinkles. "I have to pee on it?"

I look up at the girls but none of them meet my eyes. Some friends. I huff, slamming the door of the bathroom stall. I open the box and stare at the test in trepidation. Such a small, simple device. It might change my life forever.

I take a deep breath and put it in position.

Less than minutes later, I scream. Two lines. The Roman numeral II. A big, fat, life-changing yes.

Dun dun dun! Sorry for the short chapter, but I thought this was a nice cliffhanger to leave you on. 😈

There's going to be a lot less of Natsu's POV in the next few chapters. I'll try to add in his side, but our favorite dad-to-be just doesn't have a whole lot to say right now.
