"Aren't you nervous, anak?" nagtatakang tanong ni Dad. Natawa naman ako dahil ramdam ko na mas kinakabahan pa siya kaysa sa akin, e ako nga 'yung ooperahan.

In my 16 years of existence, I'm already contented of being blind until I die, basta kasama ko si Dad and Nanny. But because of my Nanny's condition, I realized the importance of being enable to see everything. My Nanny has Leukemia, stage 4 and her death wish is for me to accept her eyes. She wants me to see how beautiful the world is.

"I honestly don't know what to feel, Dad. I'm sad, but at the same time, I'm excited." he hugged me softly, like saying he knows and he understand my pain. I hugged him back.

"Thanks, Dad. I appreciate it a lot," I smiled and tapped his back. "I think I'm ready now. Can you call the doctor for me, Daddy?"

"Alright, honey. Uh, don't you want to go to your Nanny first?" He suggested but I refused.

"I don't want to cry, Daddy. Baka makaapekto pa iyon sa magiging operasyon ko."

He nodded. "Okay. I'm gonna call the doctor now. Good luck on your operation. I love you."

"I love you too, Dad."

A few minutes later, the doctor arrived and just then, the operation started.

Hindi ko na nasundan pa ang mga nangyari nagising nalang ako ng maramdaman kong may humalik sa aking kamay.

Nang iminulat ko ang aking mga mata, kakaibang liwanag ang bumungad sa akin. Eto ba ang hitsura ng isang hospital? Nakakamangha ang kasimplehan nito at halos iisa lang ang kulay.

"Martha, anak? How's your feeling?" I heard someone spoked beside me. I recognized it, it's my father's voice.

"Daddy?" masayang sambit ko.

"Oh my God! I-I can see you!" I cried ang hugged him tightly. Niyakap naman niya ako pabalik at hinalikan ang aking ulo. Nang matapos ang aming yakap ay agad niya akong pinainom.

Masaya kaming nagkwentuhan, nabanggit niya pa na ang kulay na nakita ko kanina ay puti. Itinuro niya sa akin ang iba't ibang kulay, facial expressions-na sobrang nakakatawa habang dine-demonstrate niya. At marami pang bagay na tinatawag niyang Basic Knowledge of Humans. Pero wala naman akong natatandaan na ganoon sa mga binasa niya noon sa akin, ngunit naniwala nalang ako dahil wala namang mawawala sa akin kung hindi ako maniniwala.

Dad continues to teach me when I saw something moved in my peripheral vision. I can't help but to shout. I was shocked, scared and nervous, all at the same time!

Pati si Daddy ay nagulat sa aking pag sigaw kaya't agad siyang napalingon sa kisame.

"Hey, what happened?" he asked me, worried.

"There's something up there! It moves! And it was scaryyy! It's.. I-It's color .. gray!" natatarantang saad ko.

His eyebrows furrowed. "A lizard?"

I got confused. I already heard about lizard before. But of course I'm blind so this is my first time seeing it.

"That's a lizard? But I thought.. Nanny said lizards are cute! But-but that's not cute!" I said, almost crying.

"Honey, it's okay. This is your first timr seeing it. You're not yet used to, so its understandable. You don't have to panic, okay? Are you alright?"

"I'm f-fine-"

But then before I can finish my sentence, everything went blank.

"Yes, I'll call you again. Yeah. I still need to talk to my daughter. Yes, everything's ready. You may rest assured. Okay. Bye."

Dad's voice is the first thing that I heard after I regained my consciousness. I stared at the ceiling. Ugh, naalala ko nanaman 'yung lizard!

"Sweety? Here, drink some water. How's your feeling?" Dad said while handling me a glass of water.

"I'm fine, Dad. Sorry for making you worry. I was just.."

"Shh. It's okay, the doctor said you passed out because you feel so overwhelmed that your brain can't keep up. So take everything easy, okay? Onti ontiin mo lang. Take your time to learn and absorb everything."

"Yes, Dad. I'm really sorry."

"It's okay. By the way, I hired a tutor for you. He will teach you everything he knows. And you can trust that man. I've known him since he's a toddler. He's a good guy. When do you want to start?"

Tutor? Hmm.. "As soon as I got out of the hospital."

He nodded. "Okay. I'll tell him later. For now, shall we visit your Nanny?"

My eyes twinkled at excitement. "Yes, please?"

"I'm really sorry, we did everything we can. But-" Daddy cuts off the Doctor when he delivered to us a super heartbreaking news.

"It's okay, we understand. Can you please leave us alone? Thank you."

My tears continuously fell from my eyes. I can feel my heart's breaking in to pieces. Why would she do that? She's the main reason why I decided to agree on operating my eyes. She's the reason why now, I'm interested to see the world! Because I want to see her. But why?

I can't accept that she leaves us and left me alone!
