It was a bright summers day when a little seven year old brunette wandered into her garden looking for something to occupy the time.
She could hear the birds chirping in the distance and it brought a small smile upon her face, she never really got to hear them though, her thoughts were interrupted by loud cheering.
She looked up and figured the noise came from the neighbors garden so the little girl went to investigate.
As soon as she looked over the fence she saw a messy haired boy zooming about on his broom 30 feet in the air proudly waving about a golden snitch that he had obviously just caught.
When he caught sight of the brunette girl watching him he flew down and approached her.
"Did you see my catch?" he asked in excitement. "No, but by the sounds of things it was pretty epic" she responded. "That it was" added the boy lost in his thoughts of catching the gold ball.
"Anyways I was in my garden when I heard you, I'm your next door neighbor it seems" trying to draw the boy from his thoughts. "How come I've never met you before?" the boy asked in confusion.
"I don't go outside very often" the girl timidly replies. "Well then we'll have to change that! Are you up for a toss about with a quaffle?" he asked, not noticing her slight embarrassment.
"Yeah! I just have to go get my broom." she answered surprised by his friendliness, "By the way my names Katerina, but you can just call me Kat" she added. "I'm James, and you can call me James" he said laughing.
Little did they know that one Quidditch game would be the start of an unbreakable bond.

The now nine year old best friends were bursting with excitement. This was their first ever formal event.
It was Kat's brother Theodore, and his soon to be wife, Camille's wedding. Camille already considered Kat as the little sister she never had so naturally she was made bridesmaid. Kat was dressed up in a stunning royal blue dress picked out by Camille.
Since James also considered Theodore as a big brother, both James and Kat looked to him like he was was god and heavily influenced their shared mannerisms.
So there the two were, sitting in the front row in fancy attire watching Theodore marry the love of his life. Neither of whom could really hear anything over the loud gaps and sobs coming from Kat's mother, Amelia, as she watched her only son get married.
After the ceremony was finished, more and more people kept arriving for the celebrations. Kat and James, as much as it was torture for both of them, stood dutifully at the front doors greeting guests as they came in. Well, it was mainly Kat because she was an expert in talking to adults, unlike James who had scared off an elderly couple with a joke that they didn't understand about quidditch.
After about three hours of the celebrations most people went home and it was just down to family and close friends. Of course Fleamont and Euphiemia were both still there as after James and Kat became best of friends, their families morphed into one big family and both practically lived in each others houses.
So now that the guests were narrowed down, it was time for the after party to start. Little did anyone know, Kat and James had prepared something specifically for the after party. So with a lot of convincing the DJ finally gave in and started playing "Dancing Queen" by ABBA.
Their parents, who were pleasantly surprised nothing like this had happened before now, made no move to try and stop them, knowing it would be a futile attorney anyways. As the songs started up Kat and James took their positions and started their elaborate dance routine that they had been preparing for weeks.
To put it lightly everyone was stunned they were able to move in such ways and stood with their mouths gaping open like fish as the song finished.
Finding the whole thing absolutely hilarious, Theodore was the first to start clapping, followed by shocked slow claps that also filled the room. As Kat and James took dramatic bows Kat discretely whispered so that only James could hear, "Do you think we got them?" she asked breathlessly from all the dancing. "Totally nailed it" James replied in the same tone, looking far too proud of himself and Kat.

It was a nice morning on the outskirts of Liverpool and Kat was having a lie in, for she had been up too late last playing quidditch with James.
It was a very quaint morning, with sunlight peaking through the blinds and a gentle breeze coming through the slightly ajar window. That peacefulness however, would soon be interrupted by a chaotic mess by the name of James Potter pouncing on her.
Next door, he had just got his Hogwarts letter and without even changing out of his pajamas he was bounding across the grass lawns to get Kat.
As he entered the house Kat's dad, Alexander was reading the Daily Prophet, "So I take it you got your Hogwarts letter?" he asked with a smile. "Yeah! Has Kat gotten hers yet?" he asked eagerly. "Yes it came in the mail but she hasn't woken up yet. Would you like me to get her for you?" he asked knowing James would probably end up doing it.
"No that's okay I'll wake her" James half shouted, already rushing up the stairs towards Kat's room.
He came to a stop in front of a door he knew as Kat's after having countless sleepovers in it. He gently opened the door to see if he had woken her up from the racket he was making downstairs, but she was still sound asleep.
It wasn't a surprise, she would probably sleep through a rock concert, James thought as he chucked about the mental image.
Having enough of the calmness he suddenly pounced on stop of her straddling her waist on the bed as she yelped and sat up which resulted in them knocking heads and jumping away from each other groaning in pain.
For Kat this wasn't unusual to be woken up like, having James as a best friend did have its disadvantages, but she knew his particular reason for waking her up so early today. "So? Did you get it?" she asked clutching her head in pain, already knowing the answer. "Yeah and so have you! Wait how'd you know?" he asked surprised.
"James you've been going on about this moment since May, do you think I've forgotten from last night when you reminded me?" Kat asked exasperated.
"Right yeah, forgot about that" James replied smiling sheepishly.
"Oh well, can you believe it? We're actually going to Hogwarts! I swear I've been waiting for this since the day I was born." he added lost in thought, running his hand through his untamed curly hair.
"James you only found out Hogwarts existed when you were five" Kat responded. "Yeah well I knew I was waiting for something okay?" he said stubbornly. "Of course you did James" Kat said, knowing better than to argue with his antics.
