"Princess Rilana!!" The cook called. Riley paused from reading her book, which is a Love Story, and took a breath before smiling widely and sweetly. "Please, Miss Davidson, call me Riley." She said.
The cook just shrugged and placed her breakfast in front of her. 'A full English', Riley thought. 'Yum'. She smiled again at the cook. "Thank you very much, Miss Davidson." She said. The cook smiled softly. "Your welcome Rila- Riley."
The cook walked out of the room and Riley looked at her plate. 'I'll just finish this chapter' she thought. She continued reading, and let out a little squeal at the end of the chapter where 'Chad' and 'Sonny' finally kissed.
She put her book down neatly. 'Ok,' she thought. 'Time to eat'. She was about to eat it when she heard the door open. She heard a girl's voice. "Hey Riles." And she looked up straight away. "Good Morning Maya" she said happily.
Riley loved Maya. Maya was that one friend who she felt free around. Like, she could be a butterfly soaring through the fields, and Maya was like a farm girl, watching her fly, having the time of her life.
No rules, no regulations, that's what she wanted. And she could do that with Maya. She wished they lived together in the town. She could walk by the market anytime she wanted, not just on a Friday when her dad let her go either with Maya when she wasn't busy or on her own.
Riley looked at Maya. "Maya?" She said. "Yes Riles?" Maya replied. "Are you coming into town today?" She asked. Maya shook her head. "No, sorry, a lot of work to do, you know how Auggie is." She replied.
Riley chuckled, thinking of him. Maya gave her a toothy grin. "See you tonight Riles." She said. "Goodbye Maya." Riley replied. Maya left the room, and Riley looked around. She had cleaned everything.
Riley sighed, and, after finishing her breakfast, leaned her head against the wall and looked outside. She saw people buying food and having a good time with their families. 'I wish I could do that,' she thought.
The door opened once again. Riley looked up. "Good morning Riley." Missy said. Missy was Riley's other friend. Missy was quite fashionable, so she always did Riley's outfits. "Morning Missy." She sighed.
Missy showed her a dress. It was a long pale pink dress, and it had gold sequins. She handed her a pair of ballet flats as well. "I'm assuming you wanted to go out." Missy stated, and handed her a soft cloak.
After she had got dressed, Missy and Riley said goodbye. Riley looked at her cloak for a minute and put it on. Riley turned and looked out of the window again. She saw the market was still open.
She walked gracefully down the stairs, meeting the guards at the door. They smiled at her and opened the doors. She sighed and walked out. It was good to have some fresh air. She made her way, with the bread she brought from her breakfast, to the pond.
She stood at the side and ripped of tiny bits. She threw them into the water as swans and ducks swam towards her. It felt nice to give something back for once. She smiled at a small girl, who was pouting as she ran out of bread.
She walked over to the girl and handed her a slice. The girl thanked her and she carried on walking to the market. She passed lots and lots of people to finally get to the bakers stall.
"Good morning, Princess Rilana." The man said cheerfully. She knew he wasn't the actual baker, he had said before. She said hi back, and he handed her the bread that she usually has, plaited bread, it was Maya's favourite, and she didn't get fed that much.
-with Lucas-
He smiled at his mother. "I'll be back at 11." He said. He knew she was going to be cleaning and cooking all day. She did cook for the baker.
"Oh wait! Before you go, hand this to Clive." She said. Lucas held the bread in his hands and smiled at his mother once more. "I will." He said. He walked to the door and opened it. He took in the smell of the market before shutting it.
He walked over and handed Clive the bread. Clive thanked him and he looked at the mysterious girl. She looked up at him. He admired her chesnut hair and her chocolate brown eyes.
And it was the first time he experienced love at first sight.
