In this story, Xue Yang had already battled San Lang and in the process revealed his identity to A Qing.
She later tells Xiao Xingchen about how she can see and that she saw Xue Yang fight San Lang, revealing Xue Yangs identity. But Xiao Xingchen decides to act like he herd nothing while Xue Yang too dint try to get Xiao Xingchen to fight San Lang who was now a fierce corpse.
But it doesn't take him long to subconsciously start feeling guilty for his deed. He was still unapologetic about everything bad he did in the past but the fact that he killed San Lang, who was Xiao Xingchen's best friend, made him feel uncomfortable.
