Rushing down the million staircases of the Tenebris Mansion, she stumbled upon a boy. Or rather, her brother.

"Glaucus, is there someone who came this morning?"
Her brother blinked, "Yeah, this red-eyed weird albino person. Why?"
"Did he look important or anything?"
"Why are you asking?" His unchanging tone was higher.
"Because Lila said someone important is seeing me or something."
Glaucus arched a brow, "I didn't see Lila today. And then again, I just woke up, which is probably the reason why."
Candice snorted. "What did you do last night? Went to the club again?"
Her brother's gaze was unyielding. "I went to go drunk again." Rolling her eyes, Candice raced past him to the crypt of the Mansion, where she knew Lila and the mysterious person would be waiting for her.
Pushing open the door, Candice burst in. A pale handsome young man was sitting at a seat across her parents, who she could only see their backs. So he was the person Glaucus was talking about. Candice noticed his wine-red eyes sweeping towards her, causing a chill to run down her spine.

"So this is your daughter?" the guest's voice was chilly and sounded like metal-on-metal; it caused the hairs on Candice's neck to stand up.
"Yes." Her mother turned her back. "Candy, come over here sweetie."
"No." Candice's voice shook. "Who is that - creature?"
Her father now had also turned his back. "Candice, your manners."
Candice glared at her parents. First she had to endure Lila's annoyance, then Glaucus' , now her idiotic parents'.
"Do as you are told." Her father snapped his fingers.
Grumbling, Candice sat at the seat beside her mother. The man exchanged glances with her parents. Uneasiness was written all over her parents' faces. Candice knew that look.
