Chapter 6

Life on the Daughtry/Lethargic Memories tour had been quiet for the first few shows. Nothing had gone horribly wrong. Everything was going off without a hitch.

Azalee was sitting outside of the backstage door of the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, a notebook propped on her knees. She was trying with everything she had in her to write words to a song. She already had the tune she wanted, but the words were completely escaping her. The only thing she had written down was, “What about now?” The door beside her opened and she looked up to see Luna step outside. She smiled.

“Hey,” she said. Luna smiled at her. She looked absolutely stunning today, with her pink and brown hair blowing in the wind, her striped shirt holding her shape perfectly. Azalee couldn’t help but admire her friend in the sunlight.

“How’s the writing going?” Luna asked her. She glanced at the paper and saw the three words Azalee had written. She laughed.

“Wow, that well, huh?” she asked. Azalee grinned.

“Yeah, I just haven’t been much in the mood to write lately. I feel like…” she paused, trying to decide how to word what she wanted to say, “I feel like something big is coming. Something that will help me with a song.” Luna nodded.

“I get what you’re saying,” she smiled, “Something…something big is coming.” Azalee looked at her friend.

“What do you mean?” she gave Luna puzzled look. Luna smiled her radiant smile and looked at the ground under them.

“Luke and I…” she paused and then sighed, “I’m pregnant.” Azalee suddenly gasped and grabbed her friend in a tight hug.

“LUNA THAT’S SO GREAT!” she screamed, “Oh my God! This is so awesome! We have to think of names!” She let go of her friend. Luna laughed.

“We have to start looking at clothes and cribs and get you a bunch of baby books!” She stood up, dusting off her jeans.

“Okay, we need to get your prenatal vitamins and lots of healthy foods and juice,” she said, counting the things off on her fingers. Luna chuckled.

“There’s plenty of time for all that, Az,” she said, “Let’s just get this show played first.” Azalee nodded stupidly.

“Are we keeping it a secret?” she asked. Luna laughed.

“No, it’s okay,” she said, “Luke wants to tell everyone.” Azalee looked over and saw a brown haired man she knew as Luke smiling broadly, talking to Mackenzie’s boyfriend, Kenneth. Luna looked at him too and giggled.

“He’s so adorable,” she said. Azalee made a gagging sound. Luna laughed.

“You can keep him,” Azalee smiled.

“What about you?” Luna asked, “Who do you get?” Azalee shrugged.

“I don’t know,” she said, “I haven’t been really thinking about it.” Luna smiled.

“You and Chris seem to be getting pretty buddy-buddy.” Azalee scoffed.

“Not even,” she said, “He’s married anyway.” Luna shrugged.
