"If death is undesired by most, then those who fear it will never be truly free."

"You terrify me," he said shakily as he looked at them.

"I terrify a lot of people," Rock shrugged. "I've lost a lot of friends because of it."

"No, you've lost friends because they don't understand that you are not a boy or a girl."

Rock sighed. "Neeve...why do you care so much?"

"Because you're my best friend," Neeve smiled.

"Just friend?"

Neeve hesitated. "Yeah, you-"

"That's a flat out lie," Rock said.

"Excuse me?"

"Am I really just a friend to you? Don't lie about it."

"I...well, no but-"

"Then what am I to you?"

Neeve was quiet for a while, thinking carefully about his response.

"Hello? Earth to Neeve!"

"Listen, I think you are amazing," Neeve said, "but I'm not sure if you will take this well."

"Hit me with whatever you've got."

"I like you as more than a friend. I want to be with you. I know you might not feel the same but..." Neeve dropped his head.

Before he could say anything else, Rock placed his head on his shoulder and whispered "I love you too."
