I hugged myself tightly as I walked towards the unfamiliar house in front of me, my breath creating smokey clouds of warm air as I exhaled, you'd think I'd be used to the cold growing up in England but the icy air still whipped my pale cheeks. As I stepped inside I was met with a wall of warmth and sighed in relief pulling off my gloves and rubbing my hands together.
"Auburn!" My mothers sing song voice echoing around the currently empty house. "Yes?" I called up to her. Nothing. As expected. I climbed the stair case to find her sat on the floor of the new office room she had claimed, surrounded by boxes, My mum was a Historian, specialising in Native American Tribes, which was the reasoning for our latest move to Forks, Washington.
"I need you to get the rest of the boxes marked 'office' from the truck, I'd do it my self but..." she trailed off pointing to the mounds of paperwork she had piled on her legs. I shuddered at the thought of heading back out into the cold once again.

By the time I had finished unloading the truck the sun was setting, and the once attacking winter wind was now still. I looked up at the oranges and pinks in the sky smiling to myself, maybe I will actually like this town.
Since the age of 10 my family had moved from town to town for my parents work, my dad specialised in British history so we moved around England til my 16th birthday, then things changed, and by things I mean my dads loyalty to my mother and the young blonde historian who had "taken real interest" in his work. While it sucked, it's allowed my mum to put her own work first and I'm proud of her for moving us across the Atlantic Ocean.

The smell of hotpot filled my nose as I entered the kitchen and within seconds it was in front of me. I looked up at my mum and smiled "Thanks mum." It was just the two of us now, two girls against the world and we could take on anything.
"It's your first day at the high school tomorrow." Mum noted between mouthfuls "nervous?"
I nodded my head, "I'm sure it will be fine it's not like I haven't been the new girl before, I'm practically a pro at this point." We finished the food and I soon found myself in bed, scrolling through my phone til my eyes felt heavy.

I was running, my breath caught in my throat my chest constricting, not daring to look back and see what was following me. All I knew was I didn't have a chance...but if it wanted to kill me I'd be dead. Was this a game, what would happen if I turned around, but I couldn't make myself stop. I kept running. Running until...

My eyes flew open, lasts nights dream already a swirling haze in my head, though the feeling of fear remained causing an overwhelming sensation to ripple through me taking me by surprise. I shook it off and climbed out of bed.
I pulled some clothes from out of the box labelled 'Auburns clothes', it would probably take  me weeks to sort through these boxes and procrastination is a bitch I'm familiar with. I pulled a deep plum coloured skirt on with a navy and white striped long sleeved top followed by a long warm coat "eh it will do" I mutter to my self looking in the full length mirror
