09 | a confession to make

"Why can't you just like me?"

Oikawa muttered in the moment of heat.

And as soon as those words left his mouth, the brunette gasped and moved away from the girl.

"What?" [Name] asked.

Gulping silently, he shuffled awkwardly on his feet but refused to look at the girl.

Seeing him go silent, she sighed.

Now, many things had started to become clear to her and she realised why he didn't like Asano.

She knew that he was someone who hated these kinds of confrontations and he would avoid it like the plague.

And [Name] had zero intentions of letting the captain go.

"Very well." She said after a pause. "I'll go back to Asano."

The purple-eyed president saw the twitch in the other's hand and almost smirked when she knew that she hit the nail.

"Also, have to spend the last lecture with him..." [Name] hummed to herself.

Of course, the voice she used was louder than her usual mumbling and she didn't bother hiding her thoughts.

Both were equally unlikely of her to do, but knowing Oikawa who was boiling with emotions he wouldn't notice this despite him being so observant.

Before she could take another step, a hand snatched her back.

"I like you okay!"

As if all energy in the universe had gone into him, Oikawa yelled out loud.

So loud, that [Name] was sure that pretty much everyone on the floor heard him.

There stood Oikawa with tears brimming in his eyes and a light blush on his face.

With his feelings written bare, he nervously closed his eyes.

"Wait wait—" The brunette chuckled nervously.

"What's your answer to me, [Name]-chan...?" His voice grew hesitant at the end.

"I thought this." [Name] motioned at their hands intertwined together. "Was already the answer?"

Eyes widening in disbelief and pure joy, Oikawa grinned.

"So you like me too?!" He leaned forward with pursed lips as he kept staring at the girl holding his hand.

"Yes, I like you as well, Oikawa."

And their fate was sealed.

"Don't call me Oikawa now!" He whined, "Call me something else!"

"What do you want me to call you?"

"Call me darling!"

"Ok."

"Oho~" Four friends — Yumeko, Hajime, Makki and Mattsun, peeked together to learn the latest gossip.

"They are here!!" One of them whispered.

"Holding hands? They're too young for that!" Another dumbass whispered.

"Yes yes, I'll meet you." [Name] nodded.

"Bye bye~ [Name]-chan~" Oikawa waved her enthusiastically.

"Hmm," Nodding her head, [Name] paused for a second before she turned back.

"Bye, darling."

And hearing this, her darling almost fainted.

Before completely walking away, the student council president glanced at the wall behind which her friends were hiding like thieves waiting for the owner of the house to leave.

"You all better be going to class as soon as the bell rings."

Without looking at the people who froze in shock, she walked off to do her duty.

"Fuck, that was the scariest moment of my life." Hajime said after an eternity of silence.

"Forget that," Yumeko waved off her hand as she dismissed his words.

"Say Oikawa Tooru,"

As soon as he heard his name being called, the lovesick smile on his face as he was staring in the direction [Name] left vanished.

The brunette looked at the cunning friend of his and whispered.

"I'm gonna run in the counts of three."

He heaved a sigh before determination filled every single cell of his body.

The others awaited for him to start counting.

Only for him to run as fast as possible without leaving his friends to catch up to him.

"HAHAHA I LIED LOSERS!"
