(DIpper pov)
I shiver in the cold as I pull my coat over my shoulders more as the snow falls around me. It's been 9 months since I came home and in 3 months it'll start all over again. Except this time I don't have to worry about Mabel getting picked. She was granted immunity when I won and because I won I of course don't have to put my name in ever again and we moved into a big house in the victor's village. I honestly hate it, every memory or keepsake of my dad is left in our small house which I still stop by sometimes, but it's better for my family. Plus now Stan isn't the only one in the victor's village. Hearing a twig snap behind me I quickly turn and taise my bow with the arrow nocked, only to see Tyrone. "Woah, easy there, Mason Jar."
I lower the bow. "Sorry, you startled me."
"No worries, you doing alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit tired I guess. It's not a big deal though."
"Okay, I found a bunch of wild turkeys over here." He leads me to a clearing where I see about 6 wild turkeys gathered. Raising my bow I take aim and release the arrow but my eyes widen in horror. I watch in horror as the boy looks down at the arrow in his stomach, blood pooling from his mouth as he falls to the ground. I know him, he's the one who killed Oliver but he just wanted to go home like I did, he was no different than me. The bow slips from my fingers as I feel myself hyperventilating.
"Ma....son....Mason!" My eyes shoot open and see Tyrone's gaze as his hands grip my shoulders. "Calm down, alright?"
"I-I....h-h-he...." I shakily point to the boy but he's gone and in his place is a turkey with an arrow sticking out of its body.
"There isn't anything there, Mason. I'm going to ask you again, are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah...." I wipe the tears onto my sleeves. "I'm fine, just tired."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Tyrone. I'm fine, just haven't been sleeping well."
"Are you still having nightmares?"
"It's nothing. We should head back now. I still need to get ready for the Victor's Tour tonight."
He sighs obviously not happy with my answer but doesn't argue any further. "You head on back, I'm going to stay for a bit longer."
"Tyrone-"
"Just go, Mason."
I leave without another word, making sure to stash my bow in the hollow tree before heading back into the district. I stop at my old house, going inside and thinking about all the old memories here. Sure a lot of them weren't good, but still this place is my home no matter what. I open my eyes hearing a small oink and looking down I see a small piglet. Mabel's pig, Waddles, died a few days before I came back and left this little pain in the ass. Waddles Jr., or WJ for short. He's noisy and eats too much. The only good thing about him is that he hates the victor's village as much as I do. "You're still alive? When was the last time anyone even fed your fat belly." I kneel down scratching his head as he just oinks. "Knowing Mabel she probably comes out here to over feed you. You seriously need to go on a diet or something, you stupid pig." Sighing I get up and leave heading to the victor's village.
I go to Stan's messy house and see him asleep on his table. "Stan." No answer. "Stanley, wake up." Still nothing. Getting slightly pissed I take a cup of water and dump it on him, it startling him awake sputtering up water and glaring at me.
"What the hell!"
"You told me to wake you up before I got ready for the victor's tour."
He grumbles as he wipes the water off his face. "Wheres your boyfriend?" He still won't say Bill's name and is resentful whenever he comes up in conversations. I understand he doesn't approve of my relationship but this is getting annoying.
"He isn't coming until later tonight. Had some family business to deal with."
"Why am I wet?"
I shrug my shoulders as I leave and go across the street walking into my house. I take my coat off hanging it in the closet as my mom comes out into the hallway. "There you are. How was your walk?"
I raise my eyebrow slightly confused since she knows I was out hunting. "I...." My voice falters seeing the capital guards standing behind her. I clear my throat before speaking again. "It was good, just really cold out there."
"Mr. Pines." One of the guards say, it sounding like a woman.
"Yeah, that's me. Is something wrong?"
"We just need a word with you. If you'll just follow us." The way she said it made it clear that it isn't a request but a demand. I give my mom a confused look before following them down the hall as they open the door to the study and my eyes widen slightly seeing President Snow sitting behind the desk. I've never seen him in person but I have seen him on tv a bunch. He never leaves the capital so if he's here then I must seriously be screwed.
I take a seat in the chair in front of the desk as the door closes behind me. "Dipper Pines, pleasure to finally meet you."
"Pleasure is all mine. To what do I owe this visit?" Fuck something smells horrible. The air is overpowered by the scent of roses and something more sinister, like posion. What the fuck?
"Why did you pull that stunt with the berries last year?"
"I couldn't kill Bill, I-"
"Love him, I've seen the interviews. I hoped people would just think that you were blinded by love but many people think you were rebelling."
"That isn't what I was doing at all."
"It's the way people percieve it. This has to be dealt with, the same way Seneca Crane was dealt with for letting it happen."
"If I'm such a problem why not just execute me?" The words slip out of my mouth before I can stop. "Or stage some kind of accident?"
"That would only make matters worse. If this doesn't get solved then things might get dangerous for your family and Bill's."
I clench my hands in my lap as I look up to meet his gaze. "What exactly am I supposed to do about it? What do you want from me?"
"Make the problem go away."
"How?"
"Convince people of your love for him and better yet convince me or things will just get worse for everyone." He gets up and leaves.
It isn't until I hear the front door close that I unclench my fists and allow myself to breath freely again. I stand up resisting the urge to scream as I rake my hands through my hair. Fuck! What the hell am I supposed to do?
