Christmas

"So you and Dei are for real dating?" Her aunt says after she leaves the room. Joyce, I believe her name was. "Yes," I respond, keeping up with the bit Cloud started. They nod in unison and continue to eat. "So what are y'all gonna do for her birthday?" Her grandma asks. Her birthday? "Uhhh, I'm not sure," I say. When's her birthday? Why hasn't she mentioned it? "We'll probably stop by Monday to drop off her gifts before I leave." Her grandma says. So I guess her birthday is Monday then... Why didn't she tell me? Maybe i can surprise her somehow?

Damien replaced Cloud and sat in her spot when she left. He's been watching me eat for five minutes now, kinda creepy. We all turned when we heard her speak at the door. "Damien, y'all are leaving now." She says in a low tone. I look at her face, I could tell she's been crying. "I guess that's the cue for us to go too-" Joyce says. Damien and Joyce help her grandma up and they all say bye before leaving. "You ok?" I ask her. "Yeah, i'm just gonna go lay down, i'll clean up later." She says and leaves the kitchen. I wanted to give her a hug and tell her whatever was going on would be fine, but she walked away. I walked to the front entryway where her family was. "Sorry we have to leave so soon. It was nice meeting you, Clay." Joyce says, putting her hand out for me to shake. "It was nice meeting you guys too," I say. Her dad shakes my hand and her grandma gives me another hug. Damien waves and her mom doesn't say anything. I close and lock the door after they leave and clean up in the kitchen.

I sit down on the couch after I finish and scroll through twitter, seeing me and Cloud trending. Her birthday is monday, what should we do? I'm not sure if she has anything planned, but she probably doesn't since she hasn't mentioned it. I close twitter and text my sister.
