Tw: Mention of Suicide and bullying
Humans live in a world where you can choose if you want to become a gem after primary school or stay human.
If you decide to stay human, you can turn into a gem anytime later. Though if you decide to become a gem, you can't turn human ever again.
When decided you want to be a gem, you get a stone assigned to your personality. For example, Tanaka and Noya would get a Ruby or Kiyoko would have a Sapphire.
If you have a mental illness or a physical or mental disability, your gem will be cracked or almost broken more the worse it is.
Broken and almost cracked gems are rare and often made fun of or bullied, which makes their situation worse and they often commit suicide by shattering their gem fully, which kills them.
Many normal gems take care of the broken ones and help them live a kinda happy life. Mostly these are non-rare gemstones though.
