Chapter 4

Dad didn't want me driving to school so he drove me. Before I even got out of the car, stares came. My friends and people I didn't even know. It actually kind of scared me but I got used to the whispers as the day went on. But not until history.
"Didn't her mom just die?" A voice I didn't know, but loud enough to hear.
"Yeah. What's her name?" Another voice that I don't know, but also loud enough to hear.
This got me irritated.
Tears flowed.
Then they started to notice. They both immediately shut up.
Apparently Mrs. Garson heard. She jumped up and yelled so loud, a voice I never heard from her before, "You all better shut it or you get detentions! No, TRIPLE detentions! You hear me?" They ones that talked earlier had startled looks. Eyes widened.
Mrs. Garson looked at me worriedly. Are you okay? She mouthed to me.
Yes. I mouthed back. Holding back tears.
And that was the worst of my day. Besides all the whispers.
