Gulf slowed down when they neared the gate and looked behind him. Kao, now wearing a hooded jacket to hide his face partially, whispered, "Now, you follow me. I know a shortcut."

Before Gulf could protest, Kao was leading the way to a narrow alley. Gulf hugged his bag to his chest as he followed. 'Where this guy leading me? Is he going ro kill me?' Gulf thought as they trudge through.

Just as he was considering walking away from him, they reached the end of the alleyway. Gulf heartbeat slowed down. But where is Kao?

"Kana!"

Gulf looked around and saw Kao on the other side of the street, near the back entrance of a hotel. Kao was motioning to Gulf. 'Why's he standing there?' Gulf thought as he warily crossed the road.

"Kana?"

"You never told me your name so I had to choose."

"You looked through my files, didn't you?"

Kao winked as he led him to the service elevator.

"Why are you taking me here?" The implication hadn't caught up with her until then, when he realized where they were. Gulf hugged his bag to his chest and shook his head as he stayed rooted on the spot."I'm not that kind of guy."

Kao laughed, and Gulf felt embarrassed. But still. Gulf had to hold his ground. He was, after all, not just a guy, but also a maaried man.

"Don't be funny, Kana. My father runs this place, so we'll be safe here. No one talking secret photos and posting on those gossip sites."

'Ah, Gulf thought. Gulf followed Kao to the elevator.

"Besides, you're the one who asked if we could talk. I'm merely obliging you."

Gulf rolled his eyes. "Fine." The elevator door closed.

"And, I know you're married, so there's no use trying to flirt with the married man, right?"

The elevator shook for a second, and then it went dark.

"What just happened?" Gulf spoke in the dark, his hands trying to grasp something, someone. He felt his hands on Kao's chest.

"Hey, easy there!" Kao said laughing. Gulf took his hands away, partly glad that it was dark and Kao wouldn't see his embarrassment. "I think the lights went off."

"What? How can I.. I should call.. damn it, there's no signal in here!"

"Yeah, we're in the basement."

"Why do you seem so calm? We're stuck in an elevator!" Gulf said.

Kao took his phone and placed it near his face so that it wouldbe lit up. "I'm aware," Kao said.

Gulf was struck at how gorgeous Kao was up close but shookher head. Gulf couldn't be attracted to a guy who wasn't his husband--shoot! Mew was going to kill him.

"Take it easy. It probably won't last long," Kao said as he sat on the ground. "Sit down. Perhaps now's the perfect time to explain."

Gulf sat down and rested his head in the wall. "Okay,"

Gulf told Kao everything from his childhood spent with Mew because their mothers were so close to the car crash killed both women,to that trip to Mew Hamsphire where they got married.

"So you mean, you're not really together?"

"Yeah. I mean, we're still young, and Mew probably doesn't even like me that way," Gulf said. And he was surprised to find his voice sounding hurt.
