Switching on the light, Jungkook stared at the now empty room.

He looked at the butterfly-designed clock on the wall opposite him. 10:15, it read.

He looked past it, briefly glancing at the state of his living room and minding himself to clean the dust away the next morning.

The ravenette went towards the sofa sitting in the middle of the room, closing the door in the process. He threw his bag on the couch before going straight to his, no, their bedroom.

He plopped himself on the bed sidewise, not even bothering to switch on the lights as he looked outside the window in the corner of the room.

It's raining, he thought, changing his gaze to the mirror beside the window.

"Kookie, we'll be laTE" Taehyung shouted, fixing his coat and looking in the mirror.

"..."

"Kookie.. are you done?"

He heard the twist of the doorknob and there stood his boyfriend in all his half-naked glory and his breath hitched.

No matter how many years pass, Taehyung can never get used to Jungkook's six-packs and the tattoos on his arm.

A deadly combination if you ask him.

"Like what you see, babe?" Taehyung momentarily looked at the other's face and got beet red to see the satisfied smirk on his face.

Fake coughing, "we-we'll be late. Hurry up" he uttered before going past the other.

But Jungkook had other plans.

He gripped his hand just the moment Taehyung was going, spinning towards himself.

The younger gasped at the sudden action. Now shivering from the cold nose of Jungkook touching his neck.

"You didn't answer me, love," and he had to close his eyes shut because of the hot breath fanning over his weak point. The strong, cold hands on his waist sent shivers down his 3 layered suits.

"K-koo, this is not t-the time. You already came back late from the shop" he said now looking at themselves from the mirror, brows knitted, lips pouted.

"Now if you do not hurry and we arrive late for the wedding, I'll tell hyung* it was your fault" he cautioned.

Jungkook chuckled, all the playfulness pushing to the back of his mind for later.

"Right. Who knows, maybe Jin hyung will be standing in front of the door with his frying pan" He joked for which he got a small fist on his tattooed arm, followed by small giggles.

The ravenette wiped the lone tear that escaped from his eye.

A few days ago, this house was full of laughs and giggles and a little bit of angst. Now, it's as dark as a cave, as silent as a cyclone's eye.

That night, he slept, covering himself with memories, tears, and fear.

To say Seokjin was pissed off, would be an understatement because right now, standing in front of his fiancé, or his boss as of now, felt like the last few seconds before the timer goes off.

Namjoon was showing a couple of their baby's movements on the ultrasound machine. Telling them how the baby can hear everything and even feel the mother's emotions.

The pregnant couple looked so enthralled, and for the slightest moment, forgetting the tension, Seokjin smiled himself.

Working as a doctor always has its ups and downs.

As much as you are worried about what could go wrong and if your license would be canceled or not, it's these simple moments that make your day.

These simple, happy faces, or people telling you how much grateful they are.

These kinds of things always remind him of his first-ever operation, of a small girl fighting for her life with a tumor, which was indeed, successful.

No matter how many years pass, he could never forget the relief he felt afterward. He could never forget those happy, teary eyes of her parents.

That day, he went to his mother's Columbarium for the first time in his life as he had kept his promise to save someone's life; a promise he made after her demise.

He still remembers the proud faces of all his loved ones. Hell! He even had his first kiss that day. And to add on it, Taehyung even donated Korean beef to all of the orphanages in Daegu, their hometown.

Right. Taehyung!

Focusing back on the room, he saw the couple give their last 'thank you' to Namjoon and bow to both of the doctors before going outside of the chamber.

"They are the special case I was talking about yesterday," Namjoon said, showing his dimple smile as he drooped on his swivel chair.

Somehow, that brought back Seokjin's anger.

No, because how is this person so calm after doing that?

The Pediatrician clenched his fists as he took soft breaths, not wanting to lash out at the other. He took small steps to stand in front of the only table present in the room, opposite the CEO.

"Care to explain why you agreed to sign those papers, Daepyonim*?" he asked, as calmly as he could.

Namjoon sighed. "You know exactly why, Dr. Kim."

"No, I don't. So, please enlighten me with your excuse"

The CEO yet again, sighed. "It has been over two months, Jin", he softly spoke, "Tae isn't making any progress. Your father said he will-"

"First of all, he is not our father! He never deserved that name," despite him wanting to listen to the other, Seokjin couldn't help himself from speaking, "and second, it has only been two months, Namjoon! People stay in a coma for several years and survive.

How could you lose hope so easily? Don't you have any faith in your doctors? Dr. Han is one of the best in Seoul. He said so himself that Tae will wake up, eventually, then why? Don't you have any faith in our Tae? And you know, you know why he wants to take Tae to the States, yet, you are agreeing with this? Seriously?" The doctor was fuming with anger at this point, face completely red, nails digging onto the foam of the wooden chair.

"I know, Jin. I really do. But this isn't only about what he wants. It's about Taehyung's treatment. I do trust in my doctors, and I trust in Tae, too, but..." he trailed, slowly approaching the younger. If one is angry, the other needs to stay composed.

This was always their way of dealing with problems in their relationship, like an unspoken rule, and at the moment, Seokjin's anger seemed justified to the older.

"... but, please, understand the situation, Jinnie. I know the doctor, I've worked with him and trust me when I say, he's the best! please," he finished holding the other's hand into his own, with pleading eyes.

"No"

"please"

"I said, no and that's final!" he said, removing his hands from the older's hold before rushing out of the chamber, and the latter could only sigh.

--------------------------

*Hyung(형)- Older brother. Korean males use this term to address their actual brothers or older friends.

*Daepyonim(대표님)- CEO of a well-established company.

For any confusion, the Taekook couple is the same age, and so is Namjin couple in this story.

So, in that way, the Kim brothers being born in December, are younger than the September duo.
