JULIET POV
It had come Saturday which was the day of the Malfoy's party. It seemed that it was going to be like any other prestigious event. I don't believe that there was any true meaning to the gathering other than to gloat around with peers and flaunt social status.
So here I am, walking around passing people champagne off a black tray with a painted smile on my face to make believe that I actually want to be doing this. The dining table and chairs had been magically disappeared for the evening and a piano was placed into the corner of the room to create space for people to mingle.
I was to welcome people tonight, a sort of hostess who walks around with champagne to give to a bunch of posh individuals who most probably won't even serve me with a thank you in return.
Narcissa gave me a black dress to wear that came just above the knees, the same as every other woman who had been hired for today. There were also men dressed in black suits too with white bow ties who walked around with canapés.
I look over to the other side of the room to see Draco standing there with Astoria as they both sip their drinks and she smiles at him and laughs as if he truly is very interesting and funny. He stands there with his normal expression. Bored.
We hadn't spoke much since the other night. He wasn't even a dick that night he left me after we did what we did again, but the next day it was like he tried everything possible to avoid me. He hasn't flirted with me or even cracked any of his sarcastic remarks. It's safe to say he's stayed as far away from me as possible, avoiding me at all costs.
I didn't care though. Why would I? I don't even like him and I'm supposed to be working for his parents so he isn't really someone I should be getting involved with anyway. Even if it is just for sex.
I take my eyes off him and walk around the room passing the champagne still, earning a firm nod from a woman with a snotty expression and an ignorance of the word 'thank you'.
I see I have ran out of champagne on my tray so I make my way back to the kitchens to grab some glasses and fill up, standing next to one of the male hosts who does the same with his canapé tray.
''You hating it as much as I do?'' he asks me with a breathily chuckle when he notices me slam the tray on the kitchen counter.
I look at him as he smiles down at me. A tall boy only a little older than me with piercing green eyes and raven, black hair swept to the side in waves.
''They don't have any manners'' I sigh grabbing some new champagne flutes and placing them on the tray.
''Yeah, rich people for you though isn't it. No need for manners-''
''When you have all the money in the world'' I smile and he lets out another chuckle as he finishes filling up his tray.
''This is well boring'' he sighs while I pour the sparkly liquid into the glasses.
''Very, extremely draining'' I say then picking up my tray at the same time as him as we both walk back out together into the large dining room.
''You look a bit too pretty to be doing this'' he suddenly says with a smile on his face as he walks beside me passing food out.
''Who says that a host, or maid in my case, can't be pretty?'' I ask him with a smirk nodding towards a man with a small smile as he takes a glass off my tray.
''You're a maid?'' he asks with a shocked face still looking in front of him as we slowly walk through the crowd ''You look far too beautiful to be scrubbing floors'' he says with a smirk as I suck on my bottom lip to stop me from grinning too wide.
